As Xiaomi Expands Electric Vehicle Lineup, the brand is gearing up to shake the automotive world with three exciting new models—the YU9, YU7 GT, and SU7 L. This bold move signals Xiaomi’s ambition to dominate not just tech, but the road itself. From a luxury family SUV to a performance-focused crossover and an executive long-wheelbase sedan, Xiaomi is targeting every major consumer segment. With plans to strengthen its hold in China and make impactful entries into Europe, these upcoming EVs promise innovation, power, and style that could redefine the future of smart mobility.
1. Xiaomi YU9: A Flagship Family SUV
Leading the expansion is the YU9, a premium large SUV designed to compete with established models like the Li Auto L9, Aito M9, and Onvo L90. Expected to measure around 5.2 meters, the YU9 will offer both six-seat and seven-seat configurations, making it the most practical and family-oriented vehicle in Xiaomi’s lineup.
Internally codenamed “Kunlun,” the YU9 is rumored to introduce Xiaomi’s first extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) setup. This means it may include a small combustion engine acting purely as a generator to reduce range anxiety—especially useful for long journeys. Although technical details remain undisclosed, Xiaomi founder Lei Jun has reportedly participated in the test drives, underscoring the model’s importance. With the vehicle missing from the latest Ministry of Industry catalogue, its official debut could be just months away, possibly early next year.

2. Xiaomi YU7 GT: Performance-Focused Electric Crossover
Another highlight is the YU7 GT, a high-performance version of the YU7 crossover. Inspired by vehicles like the Tesla Model Y Performance, the YU7 GT aims to position Xiaomi as a brand known for speed, power, and cutting-edge dynamics.
Prototypes have already been spotted testing on Germany’s Nürburgring Nordschleife, hinting at Xiaomi’s ambition to create a truly dynamic EV. Reports suggest it may feature a three-motor powertrain, although official specifications remain unconfirmed. Given its performance orientation and European testing grounds, the YU7 GT may become Xiaomi’s first EV launched in Europe.
3. Xiaomi SU7 L: A Luxury Long-Wheelbase Sedan
Rounding out the lineup is the SU7 L, an extended-wheelbase executive version of Xiaomi’s first EV, the SU7 sedan. This model focuses on enhanced rear-seat luxury, echoing long-wheelbase traditions popular in China. Length and wheelbase may increase by 10–20 cm, making it ideal for premium and chauffeur-driven buyers.
A Strategic Move Toward Mass Expansion
With these models, Xiaomi is creating a robust EV ecosystem that combines luxury, performance, practicality, and smart technology. By expanding into both BEVs and EREVs, Xiaomi is positioning itself as a serious challenger to Tesla and other premium automakers, furthering its vision of a seamless “Human x Car x Home” smart-living experience.
