Gorakhpur is quietly gearing up for a powerful electric transformation that could change the way the city moves forever. In a major push toward clean and future-ready mobility, Tata Power and Nitcon will install 7 new EV charging stations in Gorakhpur as the Municipal Corporation Approves Key Locations, marking a decisive shift toward sustainable transportation. This approval is more than just a green signal—it’s a sign that Gorakhpur is ready to embrace the electric vehicle revolution at full speed.
With EV adoption rising rapidly and fuel prices constantly fluctuating, dependable and fast charging infrastructure has become the need of the hour. These upcoming public charging stations promise convenience, speed, and accessibility for daily commuters and businesses alike. But where exactly will these stations come up? How fast will they charge? And what does this mean for the city’s environment and economy? The answers reveal an exciting new chapter for Gorakhpur.
Key Approved Locations
The Municipal Corporation has finalized several high-footfall areas for the first phase of installations. These include:
- Circuit House Road
- Gorakhpur Development Authority (GDA) premises
- Multilevel Parking Facility
- Gorakhpur Hata Market Parking (opposite City Mall)
While the exact details of the remaining three locations have not yet been officially disclosed, authorities have confirmed that all selected sites are strategically chosen to ensure easy access for daily commuters and commercial users.

Fast Charging for Two- and Four-Wheelers
The upcoming charging stations will feature fast-charging technology. According to project details:
- Two-wheelers will be fully charged in 30 to 40 minutes
- Four-wheelers will take around 45 to 60 minutes
This quick charging capability is expected to significantly reduce waiting time and improve convenience for EV users across the city.
Cost, Land, and Revenue Sharing Model
To support the project, the Municipal Corporation will provide 5×5 feet plots of land at each location virtually free of cost under a nominal lease agreement. In return:
- Tata Power and Nitcon will pay Re 1 per unit of electricity charged to the corporation
- The companies will also share 30% of any advertising revenue generated at the charging sites
It is important to note that these charging stations will strictly focus on EV charging and will not include additional amenities such as restrooms or drinking water facilities.
Supporting Uttar Pradesh’s E-Mobility Vision
This project aligns with the Uttar Pradesh government’s larger vision to establish public charging stations every 3 kilometers in urban areas to accelerate EV adoption. Existing and upcoming charging stations in Gorakhpur can be located through vehicle manufacturers’ mobile apps and the government’s e-Amrit portal.
With this initiative, Gorakhpur is positioning itself as a forward-looking city embracing clean energy and sustainable transport for a greener future. Tata Power and Nitcon to Install 7 New EV Charging Stations in Gorakhpur
