Officially confirmed that Honda will end Prologue EV Production after the 2026 model year, marking a significant change in the company’s electrification strategy in the United States. The decision means Honda will not offer any battery-electric vehicle (BEV) in its U.S. lineup from 2027 unless new models are introduced later. The Honda Prologue EV has become a major talking point as the company reshapes its future mobility plans.

Production to End in December 2026
Honda announced that production of the Honda Prologue EV will officially end in December 2026. Although manufacturing will stop, dealerships are expected to continue selling remaining inventory through early 2027. Honda also confirmed that all existing and future owners will continue receiving genuine parts, maintenance services, and Honda Care warranty support.
Why Honda Is Ending the Prologue EV
Several factors influenced the discontinuation of the Honda Prologue EV. After promising sales in 2024 and 2025, demand reportedly declined by nearly 50% during the first half of 2026. The expiration of federal EV tax credits also reduced consumer interest. Additionally, the Prologue was built on General Motors’ Ultium battery platform at a GM facility in Mexico, making it an expensive standalone model after GM scaled back the shared platform strategy.
Honda’s New Focus on Hybrid Vehicles
Following the cancellation of the Acura ZDX, Honda 0 Series models, and Acura RSX, Honda is now prioritizing hybrid technology over fully electric vehicles. The company plans to introduce 15 new hybrid models by March 2030, reflecting a broader shift toward gasoline-electric hybrids. As Honda strengthens its hybrid portfolio, the Honda Prologue EV will remain an important chapter in the brand’s electric vehicle journey while highlighting changing market conditions and evolving consumer demand.
