Tamil Nadu has unveiled an industrial expansion strategy for 2026–27, combining manufacturing parks, electric mobility investments, and deep-tech incentives. Announced by Industries Minister S. Keerthana, the roadmap supports the state’s goal of building a $1.5-trillion economy by 2036. TN expands industrial parks with a ₹12,000 crore EV push, 30 new hubs, high-tech incentives, and thousands of jobs. Full details now!

Thoothukudi Anchors Industrial Expansion

As TN expands industrial parks across emerging districts, SIPCOT will develop a 2,570-acre complex at Mudaivaithanendal in Thoothukudi. The project is expected to attract ₹5,000 crore and create about 20,000 jobs.

Smaller parks at Omandur in Villupuram and Lathuvadi in Namakkal could attract ₹1,000 crore each. SIPCOT has identified more than 14,840 acres across 30 locations for industrial estates.

The government will invest ₹224 crore in plug-and-play facilities at Gangaikondan and Thoothukudi. A ₹130-crore PPP accommodation project in Gangaikondan’s second phase will house over 2,500 workers. Estates will receive recycled-water systems, solar lighting, creches, fire stations, and health centers. SIPCOT will digitize land allocation and connect industrial-safety monitoring with the Directorate of Industrial Safety and Health.

Dedicated EV Manufacturing Ecosystem

The announcement that TN expands industrial parks places electric mobility at its centre. A 1,294-acre EV manufacturing park at Sillanatham, Thoothukudi, targets ₹7,000 crore in investment and 10,000 jobs. Plans envisage renewable-energy integration, 20,000 public charging stations through a PPP model, and 100% motor-vehicle tax exemption for electric vehicles until December 31, 2027.

Deep-Tech and MSME Incentives

As TN expands industrial parks, it plans a semiconductor incentive framework for companies unable to benefit from the Centre’s SEMICON programme. The state will study becoming a “Quantum Safe” jurisdiction to protect fintech, aerospace, defense, and GCC infrastructure, alongside a GCC corridor.

Electronics clusters at Pillaipakkam and Manalur are set to receive ₹1,012 crore for localizing PCBs, power modules, and sensors. Plans include AI City, incubators, an AI university, and export support for textiles, leather, fireworks, auto components, and jewelry. Sivakasi will receive ₹2 crore for a common-facility-centre DPR to improve fireworks automation.

Finance for Smaller Enterprises

The Bill Finance Scheme will extend ₹600 crore to around 500 MSME suppliers and contractors serving state PSUs. The Vettri scheme will provide ₹500 crore in loans, training, lower interest rates, and reduced collateral to more than 500 women-led enterprises, supporting 3,500 jobs. Together, these measures show how TN expands industrial parks while building a broader, technology-led manufacturing economy.
