Octopus launches the Octopus Charge App, bringing more than 210,000 electric vehicle chargers across North America into one platform. Released on August 19, 2026, the service aims to simplify public charging for EV owners traveling across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

The map-based database lists 211,221 chargers at over 10,000 stations.

What Does Octopus Charge Offer?

Octopus launches the Octopus Charge App with live details covering availability, charging speed, connector type, operator, and price. Drivers can filter locations, search by ZIP code or destination, and use an EV-focused route planner to identify charging stops.

Users can add their vehicle make and model, helping the app display connectors and charging parameters. One linked credit card works across participating networks. Octopus also promises zero-markup pricing, passing the original network cost to drivers without added aggregator fees.

Supported Networks and Major Gaps

The brand-neutral app supports every electric car marque and integrates over 20 partner networks, including EVgo, ChargePoint, Blink, bp pulse, Shell Recharge, FLO, and Circle K.

However, Tesla Superchargers, Electrify America, and Ionna are currently absent. Since these networks represent an important share of highway fast-charging infrastructure, motorists may still require separate apps or payment methods on longer journeys.

CEO Nick Chaset said drivers should not need multiple apps and accounts to charge. He believes a seamless experience can increase road-trip confidence and remove another obstacle to EV adoption.

Inspired by Europe’s Electroverse Network

Octopus launches the Octopus Charge App after building Electroverse, its European platform launched in 2020. Electroverse earlier crossed one million listed chargers and now reportedly maps over 1.5 million, with around 80% roaming coverage across 40 countries.

European operator partnerships have also delivered savings. Octopus expanded its price-plunging program to France with Powerdot, offering discounts of up to 50%. No comparable US discount programme has been announced.

Why This Launch Matters

Octopus launches Octopus Charge App as US charging demand accelerates. Federal data showed the country surpassed 250,000 public charging ports across more than 80,000 locations in June 2026.

The move broadens Octopus Energy’s US strategy beyond residential solar, battery storage, and flexible home-energy services in Texas, where it reported about 20,000 customers last year. For EV drivers, the app promises easier discovery, journey planning, and payment, although its usefulness will depend on adding the major charging networks still missing.
