In a major step toward sustainable rural development, Srikalahasti villages receive EV trucks for waste disposal and sanitation services across several gram panchayats in Andhra Pradesh. The battery-operated waste collection vehicles were officially flagged off by Srikalahasti MLA Bojjala Venkata Sudheer Reddy, marking a significant upgrade in rural waste management infrastructure.
The eco-friendly initiative will directly benefit the villages of Cherlopalli, Thondamanadu, and Kapugunneri. These electric waste collection trucks are expected to streamline door-to-door garbage collection and improve sanitation standards across approximately 50 waste-collection routes.

Corporate Partnership Drives Sustainable Development
The project has been supported by Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages (HCCB) through its flagship Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, Project SHINE. The collaboration between local governing bodies and corporate partners aims to modernize rural sanitation services while reducing the environmental impact of waste collection operations.
As Srikalahasti villages receive EV trucks, the initiative is expected to lower carbon emissions, improve waste collection efficiency, and create long-term economic benefits for local communities.
Clean Water and Childcare Facilities Also Inaugurated
Apart from waste management improvements, the program introduced several community welfare projects. A new Reverse Osmosis (RO) water filtration unit was inaugurated in Kalujumitta village under Challapalem Gram Panchayat, ensuring access to safe and clean drinking water for residents.

Additionally, a fully renovated Anganwadi centre was handed over in the Katrakayalagunta village of Yerpedu Mandal. The upgraded facility is designed to provide improved childcare, nutrition, and early childhood education services.
A Model Public-Private Partnership for Rural Growth
Speaking at the event, MLA Bojjala Venkata Sudheer Reddy emphasized that strengthening the rural economy remains a priority and that partnerships with responsible corporations can accelerate local development. As Srikalahasti villages receive EV trucks, the region is witnessing a practical example of sustainable infrastructure development.
HCCB representatives stated that rural progress is central to India’s growth story. Through Project SHINE, the company plans to continue supporting sustainable waste management, clean water access, skill development, and inclusive growth initiatives. With Srikalahasti villages receiving EV trucks, Andhra Pradesh takes another step toward cleaner, greener, and healthier rural communities.
