In a significant step toward advancing India’s electric mobility ecosystem, IIT BBSR launches M.Tech. in EV tech for working professionals seeking to upgrade their expertise in the rapidly growing electric vehicle sector. The institute has introduced the blended-mode M.Tech programme in collaboration with a clean energy-focused education and skilling platform, creating a flexible learning pathway for engineers and industry professionals.

With the EV industry witnessing rapid expansion across manufacturing, battery development, charging infrastructure, and mobility solutions, the course aims to bridge the growing skills gap in the sector.

Flexible Learning Model for Industry Professionals

One of the key highlights of the programme is its flexible structure. Since IIT BBSR launches M.Tech. in EV tech in blended mode, participants can attend weekend live online classes while continuing their regular jobs. The curriculum also includes self-paced learning modules, hands-on projects, and industry-oriented case studies.

To provide practical exposure, students will participate in short on-campus immersion sessions at IIT Bhubaneswar. These sessions will include laboratory work, interaction with faculty members, and practical training on advanced EV technologies.

Comprehensive Curriculum Focused on EV Industry Needs

The multidisciplinary curriculum has been developed to align with current and future industry requirements. The programme covers vehicle design fundamentals, electric powertrain development, EV control systems, advanced EV subsystems, battery design, battery management systems, diagnostics, maintenance practices, and charging technologies.

Students will also gain insights into charging infrastructure planning, deployment strategies, and emerging developments in the electric mobility ecosystem. No GATE Required for Admission

Unlike traditional M.Tech programmes, admission to this course does not require a GATE score. Selection will be based on the candidate’s academic qualifications and relevant professional experience. The course duration is flexible, allowing learners to complete the programme within two to five years based on their pace and professional commitments.

Applications Open, Classes Begin on July 24, 2026
