The International Federation of Electric Vehicle Associations (IFEVA) has embarked on an ambitious mission to accelerate India’s transition toward clean mobility with its IFEVA’s World’s Longest Bharat Maha EVs Rally. Spanning 100 days and covering an astonishing 21,000 kilometers, the rally traverses all states and union territories of India, showcasing the reliability, efficiency, and adaptability of electric vehicles across diverse terrains.

Flagged off on September 9, 2025, from India Gate, New Delhi, by Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal, the rally brings together citizens, policymakers, and industry leaders, including major partners like Tata Motors, Tata Power, and Reliance Jio. Its overarching mission is to raise public awareness about EVs, promote clean mobility, and demonstrate the readiness of electric vehicles for everyday use in India.

A unique feature of this expedition is its nationwide tree-planting initiative, aiming to plant one crore (10 million) saplings, symbolizing India’s commitment to environmental sustainability and climate action. The rally also aims to foster dialogue between industry and government, promoting policies that will accelerate EV adoption nationwide.

As of October 23, 2025, the rally had already completed 10,000 kilometers in 45 days, reaching Hyderabad and marking a significant milestone. With another 15,000 kilometers to cover, the convoy is set to culminate in New Delhi in December 2025, while also applying for Guinness and Limca World Records for the longest EV rally.

Participants have experienced the rally as a testament to the ease of EV adoption. Mr. Srinivas Kumar, a team member, highlighted how the EVs performed flawlessly across hills, marshlands, flood-prone areas, and deserts, despite none of the six drivers having prior EV experience. He compared driving an EV to caring for a baby; smooth, silent, and pollution-free. “Zero complaints in 10,000 km; EVs are like smartphones; packed with powerful features,” he said.

The rally has also offered valuable insights into India’s mobility landscape:

  • Many road accidents occur due to poorly designed curves and infrastructure, not just bad roads.
  • National highways have robust EV charging infrastructure, while state highways require improvement.
  • Public perception of EVs has shifted positively, with increasing respect and acceptance for electric mobility.

Dr. Rajeev Mishra, President of IFEVA, emphasized the rally’s broader significance: “This expedition demonstrates that India’s EV ecosystem, from adoption to charging infrastructure, is already nationwide and capable of supporting large-scale operations. Together with the tree-planting initiative, it symbolizes a shared commitment to sustainable, inclusive, and electric mobility.”

From Hyderabad, the convoy will journey through Eastern India, the North-East, and Northern states, ultimately returning to New Delhi. Along the way, the team is showcasing leading electric cars, bikes, and charging stations, drawing enthusiastic participation from EV enthusiasts and the public alike.

The Bharat Maha EV Rally is not merely a journey; it is India’s most impactful movement for green mobility, proving that electric vehicles are ready to redefine the future of transportation in the country.
