Omoda Jaecoo Announces Jaecoo J5 EV as it strengthens its electric vehicle strategy in Australia, bringing a new all-electric subcompact crossover SUV to an increasingly competitive market. The Jaecoo J5 EV is confirmed to arrive in Australian dealerships in January 2026, offered in a single, highly equipped variant called “Track.”

Chinese automakers continue to expand aggressively beyond Europe, and Australia has become a key target market. Omoda and Jaecoo, both sister brands under the Chery umbrella, have been gaining strong momentum globally. Launched internationally only a few years ago, the brands have already sold over 330,000 vehicles this year, recording a 47% year-on-year growth. This rapid expansion is supported by a growing lineup of EVs and hybrids tailored for global markets.

Before its Australian debut, the Jaecoo J5 EV has already proven its appeal overseas. The model sold out quickly in Thailand, attracted strong demand in Chile, and secured 6,000 pre-orders within two weeks in Indonesia. After being previewed at the Sydney International EV Motor Show, the vehicle is now officially confirmed for local launch.

Omoda Jaecoo Announces Jaecoo J5 EV with a strong focus on lifestyle-friendly features, including a standout pet-friendly interior. The synthetic leather upholstery uses a silicone-based material that is antibacterial, wear-resistant, and easy to clean—ideal for pet owners. A wide range of accessories will also be available, such as a dog carrier, a waterproof cargo mat, and even a karaoke machine.

Under the hood, the Jaecoo J5 EV Track uses a single front-mounted electric motor producing 155 kW and 288 Nm of torque. Power is sent to the front wheels, enabling a 0–100 km/h sprint in 7.7 seconds. The vehicle delivers a WLTP-rated range of up to 402 km, with DC fast charging from 20–80% in just 28 minutes. Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality adds extra practicality.

Feature highlights include 18-inch aero wheels, a powered tailgate, a panoramic glass roof with sunshade, dual-zone climate control, heated and ventilated front seats, and advanced tech such as an 8.88-inch digital cluster, a 13.2-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 360-degree camera, and a 50W wireless charger.

With strong global demand, generous equipment, and a unique pet-focused approach, Omoda Jaecoo announces Jaecoo J5 EV as a compelling new contender. As competition intensifies, the lifestyle-oriented electric SUV is designed to resonate with Australian buyers.
