India’s shift towards electric mobility is opening business opportunities for auto-component manufacturers across Gurgaon-Manesar. As internal-combustion engines lose market share, local suppliers are being encouraged to diversify into the EV Components Market to remain competitive and profitable.

India recorded 22.7 lakh electric vehicle sales in 2025, representing around 8% of vehicle registrations. Electric two-wheelers and three-wheelers accounted for most of this growth. Gurgaon, however, registered only 3,670 pure EVs, indicating that local adoption remains limited despite the region’s manufacturing strength.

What Can Gurgaon-Manesar MSMEs Manufacture?

The transition creates demand for battery packs, battery management systems, BLDC motors, wiring harnesses, power electronics, charging equipment, specialised switches, and other electric-vehicle parts. These emerging categories could help traditional suppliers replace business affected by the disappearance of engines, fuel systems, and exhaust components.

Gurgaon-Manesar also has a strategic advantage. Haryana produces nearly 50% of India’s passenger cars and 60% of its motorcycles, giving businesses access to an established automotive ecosystem, skilled workers, and manufacturers. With India’s EV penetration projected to rise from about 8.5% to 30% by 2030, the EV Components Market could become a growth engine for enterprises.

ICAT Programme Connects Suppliers with Buyers

A two-day Vendor Development Programme-cum-Exhibition at ICAT, Manesar, brought MSMEs together with automakers, public-sector enterprises, and government agencies. Organized with MSME-DFO in Karnal, the event covered market demand, OEM procurement procedures, technology requirements, government assistance, certification, and quality standards.

Around 66 stalls were installed, while the programme attracted more than 1,000 visitors, according to organizers. PFTI chairman Deepak Maini said the coming years would belong to EVs and businesses preparing now would gain opportunities to expand.

Compliance Will Decide Who Wins Orders

Entering the EV Components Market requires more than launching new products. Suppliers must satisfy demanding OEM benchmarks covering safety, consistency, testing, and reliability. BIS representatives briefed manufacturers about applicable Indian standards, mandatory certification, and quality-control requirements.

Sukh Chain Singh of Haryana’s renewable energy department urged businesses to treat standards as tools for improving safety and quality, rather than barriers. Meanwhile, the Invest in Haryana framework offers financial support for innovation, supply-chain localization, and patent filings.

The decisive challenge is converting training and networking into vendor approvals and purchase orders. Gurgaon-Manesar suppliers have a head start, but success in the EV Components Market will depend on how quickly they invest, certify products, and secure customers.
