As India’s electric vehicle (EV) market enters a more mature and technology-driven phase, Samarth E-Mobility Bets on Indigenous Tech to address critical challenges related to performance, safety, reliability, and long-term ownership. The Gujarat-based EV startup is positioning itself as a key player in the next wave of electric two-wheeler adoption by developing a fully indigenous technology ecosystem tailored for Indian conditions.

According to the company’s leadership, the first phase of EV adoption in India was largely driven by affordability and early experimentation. However, consumers are now demanding electric motorcycles that can match conventional petrol-powered bikes in performance, practicality, and riding experience, particularly in the popular 125cc–200cc segment.

Building a 100% Indigenous EV Technology Platform

Over the past three years, Samarth E-Mobility has invested heavily in research and development to create a 100% indigenous full-stack EV technology platform. Unlike many manufacturers that depend on imported systems and assembly-led models, the company has developed its core hardware and software entirely in-house.

The platform integrates critical components such as battery systems, motor technology, battery management systems (BMS), power electronics, onboard fast chargers, and a proprietary vehicle operating system. This approach aims to reduce import dependency, strengthen supply chain security, and support India’s vision of self-reliant manufacturing.

Advanced In-House Technologies Drive Innovation

A major highlight of the company’s platform is its rare-earth-free motor, designed to reduce reliance on globally constrained raw materials. The EV architecture also includes an AI-controlled powertrain that uses advanced battery management technology to optimize battery life, improve efficiency, and enhance safety.

Additionally, the platform features a 1500W onboard fast charger with automated thermal and power regulation, along with a custom operating system, digital instrument cluster, power control modules, and DC-DC converters.

Through these innovations, Samarth E-Mobility Bets on Indigenous Tech to deliver intelligent, adaptive, and highly reliable electric mobility solutions for Indian riders.

Rigorous Testing Ensures Reliability and Safety

The company has conducted extensive testing to validate its technology under diverse Indian conditions. Its in-house battery pack completed homologation through NATRAX, while the battery management system received certification from ICAT.

The platform has also undergone more than 51,000 kilometers of real-world riding tests, complemented by 3,400 kilometers of high-impact stress and dynamometer testing. These efforts were undertaken to ensure consistent performance across varying terrains and extreme weather conditions.

Large-Scale Manufacturing Plans for Future Growth

Supporting its ambitious expansion plans is a manufacturing facility spread across more than 150,000 square feet in Chhatral, Gujarat. The plant is designed to produce up to 45,000 electric two-wheelers per month, translating to an annual capacity exceeding 5 lakh units.

Guided by its philosophy of “Advanced Technology, Simplified Design,” Samarth E-Mobility Bets on Indigenous Tech as the foundation for its upcoming premium electric motorcycle brand, which is expected to launch later this year.
