Tripura signs 2240 crore MoUs to boost EV and aviation infrastructure as the state government takes a major step towards building a sustainable transportation ecosystem in Northeast India. At the Destination Tripura Business Conclave 2026, the Tripura government signed multiple Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) worth approximately ₹2,240 crore to accelerate electric mobility, battery manufacturing, charging infrastructure, public transport electrification, aviation services, and skill development.
Tripura Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury announced that these investments will help reduce dependence on fossil fuels, improve regional connectivity, and transform the state into a clean mobility and logistics hub. The initiative focuses on creating an integrated ecosystem covering electric vehicles, energy storage, charging networks, mobility services, aviation facilities, and workforce training.

Tripura’s ₹640 Crore Electric Vehicle Ecosystem Plan
Unlike isolated EV projects, Tripura’s new investment proposals aim to develop a complete electric mobility ecosystem where vehicle production, charging facilities, battery supply chains, public transportation, and service models work together.
Under the EV sector investments, several key projects have been proposed:
₹200 Crore Investment for EV Manufacturing and Charging Infrastructure
A global company has committed ₹200 crore to establish electric vehicle manufacturing facilities and charging infrastructure in Tripura. The project is expected to support local production capabilities while expanding the availability of EV charging points across the state.
₹200 Crore EV-as-a-Service Model to Increase Adoption
Another major proposal includes a ₹200 crore investment in EV-as-a-Service (EVaaS). The model aims to encourage faster EV adoption by allowing individuals, businesses, and transport operators to access electric vehicles through fleet-based services instead of purchasing vehicles directly.
This approach can reduce the upfront cost barrier for EV users and promote cleaner transportation solutions.
1,000 Electric Buses to Transform Public Transport
As part of the public transportation electrification plan, Tripura has signed a ₹120 crore MoU to introduce 1,000 electric buses. The initiative is expected to strengthen urban and regional connectivity while reducing carbon emissions from conventional diesel-powered buses.
₹100 Crore Battery Manufacturing Facility
To develop a local EV supply chain, the state has proposed a ₹100 crore investment for EV battery manufacturing. The facility is expected to support battery availability, reduce dependence on external suppliers, and create new employment opportunities.

Civil Aviation Sector Receives ₹1,870 Crore Investment Push
Along with electric mobility, Tripura is also focusing on strengthening its civil aviation ecosystem. The aviation-related proposals aim to improve connectivity, support tourism, develop emergency mobility solutions, and create skilled aviation professionals.
Jet Serve Aviation’s ₹1,500 Crore Aviation Expansion Plan
The largest investment proposal came from Jet Serve Aviation Pvt Ltd, which signed an MoU worth ₹1,500 crore. The investment will focus on upgrading aviation services, expanding regional connectivity, and strengthening the state’s aviation infrastructure.
₹120 Crore Proposal for Regional Aviation and Tourism
P S Hindustan Tourism and Infrastructure proposed an investment of ₹120 crore for regional aviation services, tourism-related infrastructure, and emergency mobility facilities. The project is expected to support faster connectivity and boost tourism opportunities in Tripura.
₹150 Crore Aviation Training Institute
To address the growing demand for skilled aviation professionals, Wing Tech Institute committed ₹150 crore to establish an aviation training institute. The facility will focus on developing trained manpower for the aviation sector, including pilot and aviation-related skill development programs.
₹100 Crore Seaplane Operations and Training Facility
Rampworks Aviation Pvt Ltd proposed ₹100 crore for developing seaplane operations along with an additional aviation training facility. The project could introduce alternative transportation options and improve connectivity across difficult-to-access regions.
Tripura’s Vision for Sustainable Transportation and Economic Growth
The latest MoU agreements represent Tripura’s broader strategy to create a future-ready transportation network based on clean energy and advanced mobility solutions. The combination of EV infrastructure, battery manufacturing, electric buses, aviation expansion, and workforce development is expected to generate investment opportunities, employment, and improved connectivity.
The state government will now prepare detailed project timelines, complete required approvals, and finalize implementation agreements. The proposed investments will be executed in phases to ensure effective development of the EV and aviation ecosystem.
