Trontek Electronics is rapidly strengthening its position in India’s evolving electric mobility and energy storage landscape, as highlighted in the growing narrative of “Trontek Expands EV Battery and BESS Focus in India.” The company is witnessing a sharp rise in demand for electric vehicle (EV) batteries, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), and EV charging infrastructure, driven by the country’s accelerating shift toward clean mobility and renewable energy integration.

Rising Demand Across EV Segments
A major contributor to this growth is the increasing adoption of electric two-wheelers and e-rickshaws, particularly in last-mile mobility and commercial transport. Demand in the electric three-wheeler and e-rickshaw segment has surged by 15–20% year-on-year, while the electric two-wheeler market is expected to grow by 30–35% this year. This momentum reflects a broader industry trend where fleet electrification and improved charging infrastructure are fueling EV adoption.
The transition away from lead-acid batteries, especially in e-rickshaws due to regulatory changes, has further accelerated demand for lithium-ion battery solutions. Reinforcing this trend, Trontek Expands EV Battery and BESS Focus in India through its widely adopted LiEV series, which has already powered over 100,000 e-rickshaws and more than 200,000 electric scooters nationwide.
Technological Advancements and Safety Focus
To stay competitive, the company is prioritising lithium ferrophosphate (LFP)-based battery systems. These batteries are known for enhanced safety, longer life cycles exceeding 4,000 charging cycles, and reduced maintenance requirements. Trontek’s in-house Battery Management Systems (BMS) play a crucial role in optimizing performance and safety.
In line with stricter regulatory norms such as AIS-156 Phase 2, the company has upgraded its battery architecture with advanced thermal management systems, aluminum casings, and thermal pads to improve heat dissipation. These innovations underline how Trontek Expands EV Battery and BESS Focus in India while ensuring high safety and durability standards.
Localisation and Workforce Expansion
Localisation remains central to Trontek’s strategy. While battery pack assembly, chargers, and BMS software are largely produced domestically, the company continues to depend on imports for lithium-ion cells and key raw materials. At the same time, Trontek has announced an aggressive hiring plan to expand its workforce by over 50%, scaling from 967 employees to nearly 1,400 by FY27. A significant portion of this expansion will focus on R&D, particularly in battery safety and validation under Indian conditions.
Expanding into Energy Storage Solutions
Beyond EVs, Trontek Expands EV Battery and BESS Focus in India by tapping into the growing energy storage market. The company has introduced residential solutions like the Powercube Lithium-Ion series for rooftop solar systems and is developing large-scale containerised BESS units up to 1MWh for industrial and telecom applications.
As renewable energy adoption increases and grid demands evolve, Trontek’s diversification into BESS positions it as a key player in India’s clean energy transition, bridging the gap between mobility and sustainable power solutions.
