Strategic Location at The Godavari Hub
The new facility is located within The Godavari Hub, an established highway restaurant and stopover on National Highway 16. Its position near the entry and exit points of the Greenfield Highway gives travellers convenient access without requiring a lengthy diversion.
By combining charging with a restaurant stop, the location enables drivers and passengers to take scheduled breaks while their vehicles recharge. This model is increasingly important as EVs move beyond cities and undertake longer intercity journeys.
Built for Cars, Fleets, and Electric Buses
ThunderPlus launches a 0.5 MW EV Charging Station to serve multiple vehicle categories, including passenger electric cars, Commercial Vehicles, and intercity electric buses. Multiple charging points are intended to reduce waiting times and accommodate different users travelling along the corridor.
The station is supported by arrangements for round-the-clock power availability, allowing motorists and fleet operators to access charging 24 hours a day. Continuous access is especially valuable for electric buses and commercial vehicles operating on fixed schedules, where charging delays can affect route planning and service reliability.
Capacity to Double to 1 MW
The Kovvur hub currently offers 0.5 MW, or 500 kW, of total charging capacity. ThunderPlus plans to expand the site to 1 MW in the near term, effectively doubling its capacity as electric traffic increases on NH-16.
The planned upgrade forms a key part of its response to rising demand for dependable, high-capacity infrastructure outside urban centers. Pricing per unit and details of future route additions have not yet been announced.
Southern India Highway Network Expansion
According to Raj Kumar Medimi, Director of ThunderPlus, the Kovvur facility will strengthen EV charging connectivity between Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam. He said the company intends to expand across major highway corridors in Southern India, supporting electric cars, commercial vehicles, and intercity buses.
