Homegrown electronics manufacturing services provider LeSol Group has partnered with China-based Hefei Pengpai Energy Technology Co. Ltd to develop and localize battery management systems for India’s electric vehicle market. The LeSol-Pengpai EV BMS Partnership will initially target electric two- and three-wheelers, segments where affordability, reliability, and battery performance are crucial.

The collaboration combines Pengpai Energy’s BMS expertise with LeSol Group’s manufacturing, engineering, and execution capabilities. Both companies aim to strengthen domestic EV electronics production, reduce dependence on imported components, and create solutions tailored to Indian operating conditions.

What the BMS Technology Will Deliver

A battery management system continuously monitors and controls essential battery parameters, including state of charge and state of health. Effective management can improve safety, performance, reliability, and usable battery life—important considerations for vehicles exposed to demanding daily usage and varied climatic conditions.

Under the LeSol-Pengpai EV BMS Partnership, the companies will jointly handle product development, technology transfer, technical training, system integration, testing, and after-sales support. Planned services include application engineering, pack-level integration, validation, firmware calibration, commissioning, field diagnostics, and remote monitoring.

One-Million-Unit Annual Ambition

LeSol plans to build a broader EV electronics portfolio around BMS technology, eventually covering drivetrains, power electronics, vehicle control units, telematics and sensors. The company is targeting 10% of India’s organized BMS market within three years, representing more than one million units annually.

The collaboration also directly supports LeSol’s wider growth strategy. The company expects expansion into new verticals to help deliver 75% year-on-year revenue growth and aims to reach ₹350 crore in FY27.

Support Network Across 100 Cities

LeSol intends to leverage the distribution networks of Usha Shriram and ReneSola, its consumer brands, to provide diagnostics, monitoring, and after-sales assistance across more than 100 Indian cities. This service footprint could prove valuable as electric two- and three-wheelers expand beyond major metropolitan markets.

Building Self-Reliant EV Capabilities

LeSol MD and CEO Naman Shah said stronger domestic technological capabilities are essential alongside EV adoption. He positioned the partnership as a contribution to Atmanirbhar Bharat and Viksit Bharat, with the potential to build globally relevant capabilities.

Pengpai’s Global Sales Head, Chin Ngai Hon, highlighted India’s distinct requirements for cost, reliability, and battery performance. The LeSol-Pengpai EV BMS Partnership therefore represents a wider localization effort aimed at strengthening manufacturing, engineering, and service capabilities across India’s fast-growing domestic electric mobility ecosystem.
