In a significant step toward promoting sustainable urban mobility, Tata Power EV Charging Solutions Limited (TPEVCSL), a leading electric vehicle charging solutions provider and a subsidiary of Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited, has entered into a strategic partnership with Varanasi Smart City Limited (VSCL). As part of this initiative, Tata signed an MoU with VSCL to accelerate the development of electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure across Varanasi.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on the occasion of World Environment Day in the presence of Shri Himanshu Nagpal, Municipal Commissioner and CEO of Varanasi Smart City Limited. The collaboration reflects the shared commitment of both organizations to building a cleaner, greener, and future-ready transportation ecosystem.

Strengthening EV Charging Infrastructure in Varanasi
Under the agreement, Tata signed a MoU with VSCL to identify, develop, and deploy EV charging stations at strategic locations throughout the city. These locations include public parking spaces, transit hubs, municipal properties, commercial centers, and popular tourist destinations.
The charging network will focus on high-traffic and transit-oriented zones to ensure convenient access for EV owners. The infrastructure is designed to be scalable, allowing future expansion in line with the city’s growing electric mobility requirements.
Supporting Uttar Pradesh’s Green Mobility Vision
The partnership aligns with the Government of Uttar Pradesh’s vision for cleaner transportation and supports the objectives of India’s Smart Cities Mission. Through this collaboration, Tata signed an MoU with VSCL to encourage EV adoption by improving charging accessibility and reducing range anxiety among users.
The initiative also contributes to India’s broader efforts to accelerate EV adoption and strengthen public charging infrastructure under various national clean mobility programs.
Strong Presence Already Established in Varanasi
TPEVCSL has already built a notable presence in Varanasi through its existing EV charging installations at prominent locations such as Taj Ganges Hotel, Hotel Surya, and Brijlax Motors. These operational charging stations demonstrate the company’s growing footprint and commitment to supporting the city’s transition toward electric mobility.
World Environment Day Plantation Drive
To commemorate World Environment Day, both organizations conducted a plantation drive under the theme “Planting Today for a Greener Tomorrow.” The initiative highlighted their shared focus on environmental sustainability by promoting both clean transportation and increased urban green cover.
Tata signed an MoU with VSCL Varanasi, which is set to take another major step toward becoming a smart, sustainable, and EV-friendly city. The partnership is expected to improve charging accessibility, encourage electric vehicle adoption, and contribute significantly to the city’s long-term environmental and mobility goals.
