In a significant boost to India’s electric mobility ecosystem, MG Motor India installs 1000 EV chargers across more than 470 locations nationwide under its “MG Charge” initiative. With this achievement, the company has become the first original equipment manufacturer (OEM) in India to establish a community EV charging network of this scale.

The initiative reflects the automaker’s commitment to creating a robust charging ecosystem and addressing one of the biggest concerns among EV buyers—range anxiety. By expanding charging accessibility, the company aims to make electric vehicle ownership more convenient and practical for consumers across the country.

Chargers Installed at High-Dwell Locations

The newly installed chargers have been strategically deployed at locations where vehicles are typically parked for extended periods. These include residential societies, condominiums, hospitals, educational campuses, hotels, and industrial parks.

The fact that MG Motor India installs 1000 EV chargers in community-focused locations ensures that EV users can conveniently charge their vehicles during daily activities, reducing dependence on standalone charging stations and enhancing overall accessibility.

Expanding a Nationwide Charging Network

Beyond the community charging initiative, the company has already established a vast charging ecosystem with more than 15,000 charging touchpoints across India through public and home charging solutions. This extensive network supports the growing number of electric vehicles on Indian roads and contributes to faster EV adoption nationwide.

Significant Environmental Impact

The company’s electric vehicle portfolio, including popular models such as the Comet EV, Windsor EV, and ZS EV, has collectively covered more than 290 crore kilometres across India. This achievement has helped offset approximately 4.17 lakh metric tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions, highlighting the environmental benefits of electric mobility.

As MG Motor India installs 1000 EV chargers, it continues to support cleaner transportation and contribute to India’s sustainability goals.

Three New Energy Vehicles Planned for 2026

Looking ahead, the automaker has announced an aggressive product strategy for 2026. The company plans to introduce three New Energy Vehicles (NEVs), including its first Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) for the Indian market. This move reinforces its belief that multiple technologies will play an important role in India’s transition toward sustainable mobility.

Green Manufacturing Supports Sustainability Goals

The company’s manufacturing facility in Halol, Gujarat, is also advancing sustainability efforts. The plant operates using more than 78% renewable energy and meets nearly 95% of its electricity requirements through green power sources. Additionally, it has achieved a 23% reduction in water consumption.

With MG Motor India installing 1000 EV chargers, becoming a landmark achievement, the company is strengthening India’s EV infrastructure while advancing cleaner mobility, renewable energy adoption, and long-term environmental sustainability.
