Tata Motors has raised prices of its Punch electric SUV in India, making select variants costlier by up to Rs 20,000 from September 2026. Announced on September 11–12, the revision applies differently across the two battery options and takes the electric SUV’s ex-showroom price range to Rs 9.79 lakh–Rs 12.99 lakh. With Tata Punch EV Prices Hiked amid inflation and rising input costs, prospective buyers must now budget more, particularly for long-range versions.

However, Tata has not introduced any corresponding design, equipment, battery, or performance upgrades, meaning customers are paying extra for the same overall product package as before today.

Tata Motors has increased Punch EV prices by Rs 10,000 for 30kWh Smart and Smart+ variants and by Rs 20,000 for all 40kWh variants. Revised ex-showroom prices run from Rs 9.79 lakh to Rs 12.99 lakh, effective now.

Tata Punch EV Variant-Wise Price Increase

With Tata Punch EV Prices Hiked, smaller-battery versions receive the lower increase, while customers choosing more powerful, longer-range configurations face the maximum revision.

  • 30kWh Smart: Price increased by Rs 10,000.
  • 30kWh Smart+: Price increased by Rs 10,000.
  • 40kWh Smart+: Price increased by Rs 20,000.
  • 40 kWh Adventure: Price increased by Rs 20,000.
  • 40kWh Empowered: Price increased by Rs 20,000.
  • 40kWh Empowered+ S: Price increased by Rs 20,000.
  • New price range: Rs 9.79 lakh–Rs 12.99 lakh, ex-showroom.

No Feature or Mechanical Upgrades

The revision is financial. Tata Motors has not changed the Punch EV’s styling, cabin equipment, safety package, battery technology, motors, or range. The 30kWh battery remains paired with an 88PS electric motor and provides a claimed range of up to 375km.

The larger 40kWh battery continues with a 130PS motor and a claimed range of up to 468km per charge. Therefore, buyers do not receive extra features or performance for the increased price.

Why Has Tata Motors Raised Prices?

Tata Motors has linked the revision to inflationary pressure and increasing input costs across its vehicle portfolio. Automakers adjust prices when expenses related to raw materials, components, logistics, manufacturing, and operations rise. With Tata Punch EV Prices Hiked, the company is passing part of those higher costs to customers while maintaining the existing vehicle specification.

Punch EV Remains Critical to Tata’s Leadership

The Punch EV, alongside the Nexon EV, supports Tata Motors’ leadership in India’s mainstream electric passenger-vehicle segment.

FADA data cited for August 2026 shows electric-car retail registrations reached 30,686 units, rising 52 percent year-on-year. Tata Motors registered 13,158 EVs, up 63 per cent, and held an estimated 43 per cent market share. Mahindra ranked second with 6,464 registrations, growing 56 percent, supported by the XEV 9e and XEV 9S.

What Buyers Should Know

With Tata Punch EV Prices Hiked by up to Rs 20,000, the 30 kWh versions remain the less affected choice. Buyers prioritizing additional power and claimed range must absorb the full increase. Since specifications remain unchanged, customers should compare variant features, real-world range needs, charging access, insurance, and on-road costs before booking.
