Saudi Arabia is preparing for a landmark automotive moment as its first homegrown carmaker gets ready to reveal two flagship electric vehicles on September 21. Established only four years ago, Saudi EV maker Ceer will introduce an electric sedan and SUV designed around the climate, roads, and mobility expectations of Saudi Arabia and the wider region.

The unveiling will signal Ceer’s transition from development and engineering into a commercial phase, while advancing the Kingdom’s ambition to build a competitive domestic automotive industry. It also reflects Vision 2030 priorities spanning advanced manufacturing, economic diversification, skilled employment, technology transfer, and cleaner transportation.

Ceer will unveil its first flagship electric sedan and SUV on September 21. The launch represents a crucial step in Saudi Arabia’s plan to establish local EV manufacturing, develop automotive supply chains, create jobs, and reduce dependence on imported vehicles.

Why the Unveiling Matters

Founded in 2022, Saudi EV maker Ceer is a joint venture between the Public Investment Fund and Foxconn. The company designs, engineers, sources, validates, and manufactures vehicles, with sales and servicing planned for the near future.

CEO James DeLuca described 2026 as “the year of Ceer” and called the upcoming reveal a historic moment. He said it follows intensive design and engineering work, alongside the rapid construction of one of the world’s most advanced automotive manufacturing facilities.

Key Facts at a Glance

  • Two flagship EVs—a sedan and an SUV—will debut.
  • The official unveiling is scheduled for September 21.
  • Ceer’s workforce has grown from 20 to 2,300 employees.
  • The company targets 45 percent local content by 2034.
  • Its vehicles are being developed for regional conditions and customer needs.

Global Partnerships, Local Capability

Saudi EV maker Ceer has signed partnerships with BMW, Hyundai Transys, Rimac, Siemens, Sabelt, Isoclima, ANDRITZ Schuler, Dürr, and XYG. These relationships provide access to automotive technology, components, engineering expertise, and manufacturing systems while supporting knowledge transfer and local industrial capacity.

Ceer is also developing an advanced manufacturing complex and combining international automotive specialists with Saudi talent. This approach is central to building a complete domestic ecosystem rather than limiting the project to vehicle assembly.

Beyond production, the program is intended to anchor suppliers, develop specialized technical skills, and retain automotive spending inside Saudi Arabia. Its scale could encourage component makers and technology companies to establish regional operations, helping the Kingdom build a resilient industrial base and compete for future mobility investment globally.

Economic and Environmental Impact

Ceer is expected to contribute about SR30 billion, or $8 billion, to Saudi GDP, improve the trade balance by SR80 billion, and create approximately 30,000 jobs. Saudis are projected to hold 80 percent of direct positions.

The wider EV strategy is led by PIF through investments in Ceer, Lucid, infrastructure, technology, manufacturing, and supply chains. By introducing locally developed electric vehicles, Saudi EV maker Ceer could strengthen the Kingdom’s position as a regional production hub while supporting the Saudi Green Initiative and the national goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2060.
