Mazda has taken a major step forward in its electrification journey as Mazda Unveils MAZDA CX-6e New Battery EV, making its world debut at the Brussels Motor Show on January 9, 2026. This mid-size electric crossover SUV is designed primarily for European and Australian markets, with a European launch scheduled for summer 2026 and Australia to follow later in the year.

A New Chapter in Mazda’s Electric Lineup

The MAZDA CX-6e is the second model in Mazda’s collaborative battery electric vehicle lineup, following the MAZDA 6e sedan that debuted in Europe last year. Built in partnership with Chongqing Changan Automobile Co., Ltd., the CX-6e combines Mazda’s signature design philosophy and “Jinba-ittai” driving feel with advanced electrification and intelligent technologies. The strong reception of the MAZDA 6e, which has already surpassed 7,000 units in cumulative European sales, set the stage for expanding Mazda’s EV portfolio with this new crossover.

Design Philosophy and Driving Experience

When Mazda unveils the MAZDA CX-6e, a new battery EV, it showcases the brand’s “FUTURE + SOUL x MODERN” design concept. The exterior features a sleek and athletic silhouette, while the interior emphasizes space and harmony inspired by the Japanese concept of “Ma.” Mazda has carefully tuned the suspension and handling to suit European driving preferences, ensuring comfort without compromising the engaging driving dynamics the brand is known for.

Powertrain, Range, and Charging

Under the hood, the CX-6e uses a rear-motor, rear-wheel-drive layout powered by a 78 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery. The electric motor produces 190 kW (258 hp), allowing the SUV to accelerate from 0–100 km/h in 7.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 185 km/h. The official WLTP range is up to 484 km, and DC fast charging of up to 165 kW enables a 10–80% charge in around 24 minutes.

Technology, Safety, and Market Position

Inside, the CX-6e features a striking 26-inch ultra-wide touchscreen with split-display functionality, a head-up display replacing traditional gauges, and a premium 23-speaker audio system. Voice and gesture controls enhance usability, while a comprehensive ADAS suite improves safety. Positioned against rivals like the Tesla Model Y and Audi Q4 e-tron, Mazda Unveils MAZDA CX-6e New Battery EV as a strong contender in the mid-size electric SUV segment.

Looking Ahead

With its blend of design, performance, and technology, Mazda Unveils MAZDA CX-6e New Battery EV as a clear expression of the brand’s “Radically Human” philosophy, aiming to deliver both the Joy of Driving and the Joy of Living in the electric era.
