BYD India hikes Sealion 7 Premium price by Rs 50,000, marking its first pricing update for 2026. Effective from January 1, 2026, the revision applies only to the Premium variant, while the Performance variant continues at its existing price. The move reflects changing cost dynamics in India’s fast-evolving premium electric vehicle (EV) market.

Updated Ex-Showroom Prices Explained

Following the hike, the Sealion 7 Premium now carries an ex-showroom price of ₹49.40 lakh, up from ₹48.90 lakh. The Performance variant remains unchanged at ₹54.90 lakh. Importantly, BYD India has confirmed booking protection for customers who placed their orders on or before December 31, 2025, ensuring they receive their vehicles at the older prices.

This strategic decision ensures fairness to early buyers while aligning pricing with rising operational costs.

What’s Driving the Price Hike?

According to Rajeev Chauhan, Head of Electric Passenger Vehicles at BYD India, the revision is driven by evolving input costs and continued investments in advanced technology, safety systems, and customer infrastructure. As BYD India hikes Sealion 7 Premium price by Rs 50,000, the brand aims to maintain its strong value proposition despite mounting cost pressures.

Powertrain, Battery & Safety Highlights

Both Sealion 7 variants are powered by an 82.56 kWh Blade Battery, known for its durability and thermal safety. The electric SUV also boasts a 5-star Euro NCAP safety rating, reinforcing BYD’s focus on passenger protection. Performance, range, and safety continue to be core strengths of the Sealion 7 lineup.

Strong Market Presence and Growing Sales

Since its launch in February 2025, the Sealion 7 has recorded over 2,300 cumulative sales in India. Competing with premium EVs such as the Kia EV6, Hyundai Ioniq 5, and BMW iX1 LWB, the model has carved out a solid position in the segment.

Currently, BYD India operates 47 dealerships across 40 cities, offering sales, service, and charging support. This expanding network plays a key role as BYD India hikes Sealion 7 Premium price by Rs 50,000 while strengthening customer confidence.

What does this mean for Buyers?

For prospective buyers, the price revision underscores the rising demand and cost realities of premium EVs. Still, BYD India hikes Sealion 7 Premium price by Rs 50,000 without altering the Performance variant, keeping multiple choices open for customers entering the electric SUV space.
