Bajaj Auto has achieved a historic breakthrough in India’s electric two-wheeler market, with its popular Chetak electric scooter surpassing one million cumulative retail sales. The achievement highlights the remarkable transformation of the iconic Chetak brand from a petrol-powered household favourite into a major player in electric mobility. Bajaj Chetak EV sales crossed 10 Lakh units in less than seven years since its electric debut in January 2020.
Strong consumer demand, an expanding dealership network, competitive pricing, and a diversified electric scooter portfolio have accelerated Bajaj’s growth, strengthening its position against established rivals in India’s increasingly competitive electric vehicle market.
How Many Bajaj Chetak EVs Have Been Sold?
As of November 6, 2026, Bajaj Auto recorded 1,011,135 cumulative Chetak EV retail sales in India, according to Vahan registration data. Bajaj is the third Indian electric two-wheeler manufacturer to reach one million sales, after Ola Electric and TVS Motor Company.

Bajaj Chetak’s Journey From Slow Start to Record Sales
The journey began modestly in 2020, when India’s electric scooter ecosystem was still developing.
However, aggressive product expansion, improved accessibility, and growing consumer confidence transformed the Chetak’s fortunes.
