In a groundbreaking move that has sent shockwaves through the automotive world, Ferrari announces its first fully electric car, codenamed Elettrica. Unveiled on October 9, 2025, during Ferrari’s Capital Markets Day in Maranello, this bold step marks the Prancing Horse’s entry into the electric era. While the complete exterior and interior designs will be revealed in spring 2026, Ferrari has already teased thrilling details about its quad-motor powertrain, lightning-fast acceleration, and innovative engineering. Combining luxury, performance, and cutting-edge technology, the Elettrica promises to redefine what it means to drive a Ferrari — without the roar of a traditional engine.
Performance and Powertrain
Despite losing the roar of a combustion engine, Ferrari ensures that emotion and driving thrill remain at the heart of the Elettrica.
Under its sleek shell lies a quad-motor, all-wheel-drive powertrain capable of producing over 1,000 horsepower. This setup propels the Elettrica from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.5 seconds, reaching a breathtaking top speed of 310 km/h.
Every critical component — from battery packs and inverters to e-axles — has been developed and built in-house at Ferrari’s cutting-edge “e-building” facility. The battery cells themselves come from SK On, a renowned South Korean supplier.
To enhance handling, Ferrari has integrated an advanced active suspension system, evolved from the Purosangue and F80 hypercar, which precisely controls pitch and roll. Additionally, independent rear-wheel steering offers exceptional agility and cornering dynamics.
One standout innovation is the Torque Shift Engagement system — a paddle-operated feature that allows drivers to select from five levels of torque and power, simulating the gear-shifting experience that Ferrari purists love.
Battery and Charging
At the core of the Elettrica is an 880V electrical system supported by a 122 kWh battery pack integrated seamlessly into the chassis floor. This setup ensures a low center of gravity, boosting both performance and stability.
The Elettrica supports ultra-fast DC charging up to 350 kW, minimizing downtime during long drives. Moreover, Ferrari’s modular battery design allows for easy replacements and upgrades, ensuring the vehicle remains relevant and serviceable for years to come.
Design and Sound
Unlike Ferrari’s traditional two-seaters, the Elettrica is a four-door, four-seater grand tourer, offering both luxury and practicality. Design maestros Marc Newson and Jony Ive of LoveFrom studio have collaborated to shape Elettrica’s aesthetics, which will be officially revealed in 2026.
In a clever twist, Ferrari has devised a way to preserve its signature auditory excitement. Instead of artificial engine noises, an accelerometer on the rear axle captures and amplifies real mechanical vibrations — creating an authentic, electric Ferrari soundtrack.
Ferrari’s Strategy: Balancing Heritage and Future
Ferrari remains technology-neutral, aiming to balance its lineup between electric, hybrid, and combustion-engine models. The company has slightly revised its EV targets, now expecting electric vehicles to account for 20% of its lineup by 2030, down from the earlier 40%.
With a starting price expected to exceed $500,000, the Elettrica is set to redefine what an electric supercar can be — fusing cutting-edge innovation with Ferrari’s timeless performance DNA.
The Ferrari Elettrica isn’t just an electric car — it’s a declaration that emotion, speed, and Italian craftsmanship can thrive in the age of electrification.
