India’s electric revolution has just hit a new gear! In October 2025, the nation witnessed its most electrifying month yet as EV sales soared across all segments. What’s truly remarkable is that E2W sales crossed 1 million in 2025, marking a major turning point for sustainable mobility. With festive demand, innovation, and consumer trust driving this surge, India’s journey toward a cleaner, greener road future is accelerating faster than ever before. Here’s a closer look at this record-breaking milestone.
Record-Breaking Month for EVs
According to registration data, total EV sales across all categories in October 2025 reached approximately 2.34 lakh units (234,000) — the highest monthly figure ever recorded in India’s EV sector. This remarkable achievement underscores the country’s accelerating shift towards sustainable transportation, supported by growing consumer confidence, expanding charging infrastructure, and festive-season incentives.

E2W Segment Shines Bright
The E2W segment continues to dominate India’s EV market. October alone witnessed a record 1.43 lakh electric two-wheelers sold, a steep rise from 96,031 units in September 2025. This surge was fueled largely by festive demand and new product launches.
Cumulatively, E2W retail sales have already crossed 1 million units in 2025 (January–October), with two months remaining — a testament to how electric scooters and bikes are fast becoming mainstream choices for urban commuters.
Top Performers in the Market
Among manufacturers, Bajaj Auto led the E2W race in October with 31,207 units sold, marking its best-ever monthly performance. TVS Motor and Ather Energy also posted record sales, solidifying their strong market positions and reflecting healthy competition in the segment.
In the electric passenger vehicle (e-PV) category, registrations touched 17,874 units during the month. Tata Motors retained its leadership with around 7,150 units, continuing to dominate India’s EV car market.
Meanwhile, the electric three-wheeler (e-3W) segment also displayed impressive growth, clocking 70,604 units (excluding e-rickshaws) — a jump from 61,044 units in September 2025.
India’s EV Momentum Accelerates
The festive season clearly played a pivotal role in this sales spike. Yet, what’s more significant is the growing acceptance of electric mobility among Indian consumers, even as the industry navigates challenges, such as component supply issues, including magnet shortages.
With record-breaking sales, expanding product portfolios, and continued government support, India’s EV ecosystem is charging ahead, steering confidently toward a cleaner, electrified future.
