Vattenfall InCharge acquires Swedish public charging provider Nima Energy marks a significant development in Europe’s rapidly expanding electric vehicle (EV) charging ecosystem. European EV charging solutions provider Vattenfall InCharge has officially agreed to acquire Nima Energy’s ultra-fast EV charging business in Sweden, strengthening its position in one of the fastest-growing EV markets in the Nordic region.
The acquisition, announced on July 9, 2026, will allow Vattenfall InCharge to expand its public charging infrastructure and provide EV drivers with faster, more reliable charging options across Sweden. The deal will help the company scale its network by acquiring an established charging platform instead of developing new locations from the ground up.
Nima Energy’s Ultra-Fast Charging Network Expands Vattenfall’s Presence
As part of the acquisition, Vattenfall will take over Nima Energy’s operational network consisting of 178 high-power charging points across 16 locations in Sweden. These charging stations support ultra-fast charging capabilities ranging from 300 kW to 400 kW, enabling drivers to recharge compatible electric vehicles in significantly less time.
The transaction also includes Nima Energy’s future expansion pipeline, featuring 254 additional ultra-fast charging points planned across 36 upcoming sites. These new locations are expected to further improve EV charging availability across major cities, highways, and important transportation corridors.
The expansion will particularly strengthen Vattenfall’s charging footprint in key Swedish markets, including Stockholm and Malmö, where demand for accessible and high-speed EV charging continues to rise.
Strategic Growth for Vattenfall InCharge in Europe

Before this acquisition, Vattenfall operated approximately 48,000 charging points across Sweden, the Netherlands, and Germany, including around 7,500 charging points in Sweden.

Henrik Nordström, Director of Vattenfall E-Mobility Sweden, said that more drivers are transitioning to electric vehicles and expect charging facilities wherever they travel. He highlighted that the acquisition will increase customer access to fast and dependable charging locations while reinforcing Vattenfall’s position in Sweden’s growing EV charging market.
Nima Energy’s Contribution to Sweden’s EV Transition
Founded in 2020, Nima Energy developed a highly utilized charging network designed for both private EV owners and commercial users, including high-frequency fleets such as taxis. The company’s charging infrastructure has played an important role in supporting Sweden’s transition toward electric mobility.
Marcus Landelin, CEO and co-founder of Nima Energy, stated that the acquisition represents an important milestone for the company. He added that Vattenfall is the right long-term owner to help Nima Energy achieve its full potential and continue expanding its charging infrastructure.
