Saudi Arabia’s push to become a global hub for electric vehicle manufacturing has taken another significant step forward. Saudi Arabia’s SABIC, one of the world’s leading diversified chemicals companies, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with CEER, the Kingdom’s first homegrown electric vehicle brand, to explore advanced materials, sustainable manufacturing solutions, and local supply chain development for electric vehicles.
The strategic collaboration supports Saudi Vision 2030 and highlights the country’s growing commitment to building a competitive and sustainable EV ecosystem.
Saudi Arabia’s SABIC and CEER Join Forces for EV Innovation
The Memorandum of Understanding was signed at SABIC’s headquarters in Riyadh in the presence of SABIC CEO and Executive Board Member Dr. Faisal M. Alfaqeer and CEER CEO James DeLuca.
The agreement establishes a framework for both companies to evaluate how SABIC’s advanced materials and innovative processing technologies can be integrated into CEER’s future electric vehicles. The partnership will also assess commercial opportunities while defining the roadmap for future collaboration.
The initiative is expected to strengthen Saudi Arabia’s domestic automotive manufacturing capabilities by combining SABIC’s expertise in advanced materials with CEER’s vision of producing world-class electric vehicles within the Kingdom.
Advanced Materials to Improve Future Electric Vehicles
Under the MoU, both companies will jointly study the application of advanced materials across various vehicle components. The collaboration also includes developing innovative material and processing solutions that improve vehicle performance, efficiency, safety, and sustainability.
Beyond material development, the agreement promotes knowledge sharing in sustainability, engineering, and emerging automotive technologies. These efforts are intended to support CEER’s product development while encouraging innovation across Saudi Arabia’s expanding EV industry.
Another major objective is to explore strategic sourcing opportunities that help establish a locally integrated EV supply chain meeting international quality standards.
Partnership Supports Saudi Vision 2030
Commenting on the agreement, Dr. Faisal M. Alfaqeer said the collaboration leverages SABIC’s global leadership in advanced materials for electric vehicles while accelerating innovation and increasing local industrial content.
He noted that the partnership will help build an integrated national supply chain, improve Saudi Arabia’s global competitiveness, empower local talent, and contribute directly to Saudi Vision 2030 and the National Industrial Strategy.
CEER CEO James DeLuca described the agreement as a major milestone in CEER’s mission to design, engineer, and manufacture world-class electric vehicles entirely within Saudi Arabia.
According to DeLuca, integrating SABIC’s advanced materials and technical expertise will enhance vehicle safety and efficiency while helping build a reliable domestic supply chain for the Kingdom’s rapidly growing automotive sector.
Building a Competitive Saudi EV Ecosystem
Saudi Arabia’s SABIC has supplied advanced materials to the global automotive industry for decades, helping manufacturers develop lighter, safer, and more sustainable electric vehicles.
The latest collaboration also builds upon earlier initiatives launched in 2022, when CEER and the National Industrial Development and Logistics Program focused on supporting EV development through advanced thermoplastics, engineering expertise, and lightweight material solutions that reduce environmental impact without compromising safety or performance.
