Ola Electric Q1 FY27 Loss Falls 21.5% to ₹336 crore in the quarter ended June 30, 2026, as a sharp recovery in electric two-wheeler sales and aggressive cost-cutting helped the company reduce its losses. The consolidated net loss stood at ₹428 crore in Q1 FY26 and ₹500 crore in the preceding quarter, Q4 FY26.

EV Sales Rebound Drives Q1 Performance

Ola Electric’s revenue from operations declined 45% year-on-year to ₹455 crore from ₹828 crore. However, revenue jumped 72% sequentially from ₹265 crore in Q4 FY26, supported by a significant recovery in EV volumes.

The company reported 44,071 orders during the quarter, nearly double the previous quarter, while deliveries increased 94% sequentially to 39,192 units. Its share of India’s electric two-wheeler market also recovered to 8.4%, compared with 5.1% in the previous quarter.

The recovery comes as demand for electric two-wheelers remains resilient in India. Ola said volatile fuel prices amid geopolitical tensions in the Middle East are also encouraging consumers to consider EVs because of their lower running costs.

Cost Cutting Supports Ola Electric

Ola Electric’s Q1 FY27 Loss Falls 21.5% despite continued pressure from higher input costs. Total expenses declined 41.8% year-on-year to ₹620 crore, while consolidated operating expenses fell 22% sequentially following restructuring measures introduced last year.

The company also integrated AI tools into fulfillment and sales operations to improve efficiency. Its EBITDA loss narrowed to ₹165 crore from ₹237 crore a year earlier and ₹281 crore in Q4 FY26.

However, an 11% increase in raw material prices, including copper, aluminum, and lithium, affected profitability. Gross margin fell to 30.5% from 38.5% in the previous quarter, although it remained above the 28.6% reported a year earlier.

Ola’s New Retail and Service Strategy

Ola Electric Q1 FY27 Loss Falls 21.5% as the company simultaneously works to strengthen its business model. It is shifting from a pure direct-to-consumer approach toward a dealer-led retail network to expand into Tier-II, Tier-III, and rural markets. More than 1,200 potential dealers have already expressed interest.

The company also plans to increase after-sales service revenue from ₹130 crore in FY26 to ₹400-500 crore by FY28, targeting a 65% gross margin.

Outlook for Electric Two-Wheelers

Ola Electric Q1 FY27 Loss Falls 21.5% amid expectations of sustained EV demand. Nomura forecasts India’s two-wheeler industry to grow 8.5% in FY27, while Citi expects commodity and manufacturing costs to remain a challenge, although peak cost inflation may have passed.

Ola also strengthened liquidity by raising ₹780 crore through an oversubscribed QIP during the quarter, giving the EV maker additional financial flexibility as it targets higher volumes, lower costs, and improved profitability.
