Mercedes-Benz confirms the CLA EV for India with an official launch timeline set for April 2026, marking a major shift in the brand’s electric strategy. Bringing back the familiar CLA badge—this time as a fully electric sedan—the German luxury carmaker is positioning the CLA EV as its new entry point into premium electric mobility for Indian buyers.
Replacing Three Models at Once
The upcoming CLA EV will replace the A-Class sedan while also filling the gap left by the discontinued EQA and EQB electric SUVs. This bold move makes the CLA EV the single most accessible electric Mercedes-Benz in India, streamlining the brand’s portfolio and strengthening its EV focus.

Built on an All-New Electric Platform
The CLA EV is the first Mercedes-Benz model based on the Modular Architecture (MMA), an electric-first platform. India is expected to receive the CLA 250+ variant, featuring an 85 kWh battery pack paired with a rear-mounted electric motor and rear-wheel-drive layout.
Performance, Range & Charging Highlights
Mercedes-Benz confirms the CLA EV for India with some impressive numbers. The CLA 250+ produces around 272 hp and 335 Nm of torque, sprinting from 0–100 km/h in about 6.7 seconds. The standout figure, however, is its claimed WLTP range of up to 790 km.
Fast charging is another major highlight. Thanks to its 800V electrical architecture, the CLA EV supports DC fast charging of up to 320 kW, allowing it to add nearly 300 km of range in just 10 minutes under ideal conditions.
Sleek Design with Practical Touches
Visually, the CLA EV retains its sporty coupe-like silhouette with a closed grille featuring illuminated Mercedes stars, connected LED lighting, flush door handles and aerodynamic alloy wheels ranging from 17 to 19 inches. Practicality is addressed with a 405-litre boot and an additional 101-litre frunk.
Tech-Loaded Interior & Safety
Inside, the cabin is dominated by the MBUX Superscreen, combining a 10.25-inch digital driver display, a 14-inch central touchscreen and an optional front passenger screen. Features include a panoramic glass roof, head-up display, wireless smartphone connectivity and an optional Burmester sound system.
Safety is equally strong, with eight airbags, Level 2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera, blind-spot monitoring and a 5-star Euro NCAP rating.
Pricing & Rivals
Mercedes-Benz confirms the CLA EV for India at an expected price of around ₹60 lakh (ex-showroom). It will compete with the BMW i4, Kia EV6 and the upcoming Tesla Model Y.
Final Thoughts
With long-range, ultra-fast charging, advanced tech and strong safety credentials, Mercedes-Benz confirms the CLA EV for India as a key luxury electric sedan that could redefine entry-level premium EVs in the country.
