When Honda unveils the Super-ONE compact EV, the automotive world takes notice, and for good reason. This striking near-production prototype, showcased at the Japan Mobility Show 2025, isn’t just another compact electric car; it’s a bold statement of performance and personality. Built on Honda’s lightweight N-Series platform with a wider, sportier stance, the Super-ONE blends cutting-edge EV technology with pure driving excitement. With its emotional design, dynamic features, and futuristic flair, Honda is redefining what small electric mobility can deliver, and this could be the compact EV that sparks a new era of fun-to-drive electrics.

A Compact EV with a Performance Edge

Unlike most compact EVs designed purely for city commuting, the Honda Super ONE emphasizes driving excitement. It’s equipped with several performance-oriented technologies that make it stand out in its segment.

  • Boost Mode: This feature unleashes the motor’s full potential, delivering a burst of power for rapid acceleration.
  • Simulated Transmission: To bring back the familiar feel of a combustion car, Honda has added a virtual 7-speed gearbox that mimics gear shifts for a more engaging drive.
  • Active Sound Control: Inside the cabin, drivers experience synthetic yet dynamic engine sounds that vary with throttle and braking inputs — creating a more immersive connection with the vehicle.

Design That Balances Function and Flair

Drawing inspiration from the Super EV Concept showcased at the 2025 Goodwood Festival of Speed, the Super ONE combines Honda’s signature practicality with a sporty aesthetic.

Exterior: The EV sports a boxy hatchback profile with flared fenders and 8-spoke black alloy wheels positioned at the corners for improved stability. The front fascia features circular LED headlights and a front-mounted charging port, while functional air ducts enhance cooling and aerodynamics.

Interior: The cabin adopts a minimalist, driver-focused layout, blending digital innovation with tactile usability. A horizontal dashboard houses a central touchscreen alongside physical controls for essentials like climate settings. Sporty blue accents and bolstered seats complete the energetic vibe.

Production Plans and Market Launch

Production of the Honda Super ONE is slated to begin in Japan by 2026, followed by launches in select global markets. The UK version will debut as the Honda Super-N, while other Asian and Oceanian countries will follow soon after.

For India, Honda is taking a different approach, focusing on its upcoming 0 Series electric SUVs, including the Honda 0 Alpha, scheduled for a 2027 launch.

With its blend of style, innovation, and performance, the Honda Super ONE marks a bold new step in the evolution of compact electric mobility.
