The BYD Seal 07 EV was exposed! In recent regulatory filings from China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), crucial specifications and design details ahead of its market debut. This upcoming all-electric midsize sedan joins BYD’s growing Seal lineup, complementing the existing Seal 07 DM-i plug-in hybrid.
Battery and Driving Range
According to the MIIT filing, the BYD Seal 07 EV features a 69.07-kilowatt-hour lithium iron phosphate (LFP) Blade battery. This large-capacity battery delivers an impressive claimed driving range of 705 kilometers, likely measured under the Chinese CLTC or NEDC test cycles. The vehicle uses a single electric motor capable of producing a maximum output of 240 kilowatts, making it a strong contender in the midsize electric sedan segment.
Design and Exterior Features
The exterior of the BYD Seal 07 EV closely mirrors the styling of the Seal 07 DM-i plug-in hybrid. The front fascia boasts sleek, narrow headlamps with a distinctive lighting signature, while hidden door handles maintain a clean side profile. Notably, the filing shows a roof-mounted LiDAR sensor, suggesting advanced driver assistance capabilities.
At the rear, the Seal 07 EV retains the full-width taillight design seen on the DM-i, with an “EV” badge on the left side of the tailgate to differentiate it from its hybrid sibling. Overall, no major exterior alterations are indicated, highlighting BYD’s approach of a consistent design language across its Seal series.
Dimensions and Segment Positioning
Dimensionally, the BYD Seal 07 EV measures 4,995 mm in length, 1,910 mm in width, 1,495 mm in height, and features a 2,900 mm wheelbase. Compared to the 2026 Seal 07 DM-i, the EV is slightly wider by 10 mm but otherwise shares similar proportions. These dimensions place the vehicle firmly in the midsize electric sedan segment, combining spaciousness with sleek styling.
Market Outlook
The regulatory disclosure signals that the BYD Seal 07 EV is nearing its official launch. The Seal series itself has seen robust performance, recording cumulative sales of 518,412 units in 2025, including 44,602 vehicles sold in December alone. The addition of a dedicated all-electric Seal 07 EV expands BYD’s presence in the EV market and strengthens its competitive edge.
With a powerful 240 kW motor, a 705 km driving range, and advanced driver-assistance features, the BYD Seal 07 EV positions itself as a compelling choice for buyers seeking a high-performance, long-range electric sedan.
