In a major boost to India’s electric mobility ecosystem, Ampvolts & Cholamandalam Partners have announced plans to establish 17 high-capacity EV charging hubs across key industrial and logistics corridors in Western India. This strategic initiative aims to strengthen long-haul electric freight operations and address one of the biggest challenges in heavy-duty EV adoption—reliable charging infrastructure.
Powering Long-Haul Electric Freight
The charging network will support the deployment of Montra Electric RHINO 5538 electric trucks, enabling large-scale long-haul freight operations. With this initiative, Ampvolts & Cholamandalam Partners are working to establish India’s first dedicated green freight corridor, a milestone in the country’s transition to clean mobility.
Shri Jalaj Gupta, Managing Director of Montra Electric (TI Clean Mobility Pvt. Ltd.), highlighted the significance of the project, calling it a breakthrough in enabling sustainable freight movement at scale.

Strategic Infrastructure for Logistics Growth
The 17 hubs will be strategically located along high-traffic freight routes and designed for multi-fleet operations, ensuring flexibility for logistics providers. Backed by over 18 months of operational experience, Ampvolts aims to deliver seamless charging solutions that improve fleet uptime and reduce operational uncertainties.
By strengthening infrastructure, Ampvolts & Cholamandalam Partners seek to eliminate range anxiety and enhance revenue potential for fleet operators, making electric trucking a more viable business option.
Driving Sustainability and Emission Reduction
The initiative is expected to play a crucial role in helping corporates achieve their sustainability goals, particularly in reducing Scope-3 emissions. Transportation accounts for a significant share of supply chain emissions, and this project could cut approximately 650,000 tonnes of CO₂ annually.
It also aligns with India’s broader net-zero commitments and global carbon reduction frameworks, while reducing dependence on fossil fuels.
Strong Ecosystem and Future Outlook
The project brings together key ecosystem players, including Montra Electric and VerdeMobility, to provide fleet lifecycle support and advanced charging solutions. According to Ampvolts Director Naimish Raval, the focus is on building a scalable ecosystem for electric freight mobility through close collaboration with transporters and logistics companies.
With India’s electric truck market projected to grow at a CAGR of around 55% through FY2030, supported by initiatives like PM E-DRIVE and FAME II, Ampvolts & Cholamandalam Partners are positioning themselves at the forefront of this transformation.
By combining infrastructure, technology, and industry partnerships, the initiative is set to bridge critical gaps in EV adoption and establish a new benchmark for sustainable logistics in India.
