VinFast Plans to Launch Electric Cabs in India through its all-electric ride-hailing platform, Green SM (Green and Smart Mobility), marking a significant development in the country’s growing electric mobility sector. The Vietnamese EV giant is preparing to begin operations in early June 2026, aiming to fill the gap left by the recent suspension of BluSmart, India’s leading EV-only cab service.
Backed by Vingroup, Green SM will introduce a fleet of bright turquoise electric vehicles and compete directly with established ride-hailing companies such as Ola, Uber, and Rapido.
Delhi-NCR to Be the First Launch Market
The company will begin its journey in Delhi-NCR with an initial deployment of 1,000 electric taxis. This is only the first phase of a much larger expansion strategy. Green SM plans to increase its fleet size to approximately 15,000 electric vehicles by the end of 2026.
Following the Delhi-NCR rollout, the service is expected to expand to major metropolitan cities, including Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Mumbai.
Competitive Pricing Could Disrupt the Market
One of the biggest highlights is the aggressive pricing strategy. As VinFast Plans to Launch Electric Cabs in India, the company is expected to offer rides starting at just ₹8 per kilometre, making EV travel affordable for a wider customer base.
In a move that could attract many commuters, Green SM has announced that it will avoid surge pricing during peak hours and will not impose hidden weather-related charges. This approach aims to provide predictable and transparent fares for passengers.
VinFast Limo Green to Power the Fleet
The ride-hailing service will primarily use the VinFast Limo Green, a seven-seater electric MPV designed specifically for commercial operations.
The vehicle features a 60.13 kWh battery pack with a claimed driving range of 450 km (NEDC). It delivers 201 bhp of power and 280 Nm of torque. Additionally, the MPV offers flexible cargo space, with up to 1,240 litres of storage available when the third-row seats are folded.
Driver-Partner Model With Fixed Income
As VinFast Plans to Launch Electric Cabs in India, the company is adopting a different approach from traditional gig-economy platforms. Through its “Driver Nahi, Partner Bano” campaign, Green SM is offering drivers fixed monthly salaries ranging from ₹35,000 to ₹40,000.
With performance incentives, earnings can increase to ₹50,000 per month. Drivers will also receive medical insurance benefits, making the opportunity more attractive than conventional ride-hailing arrangements.
Building a Complete EV Ecosystem
Unlike many competitors, Green SM intends to control the entire value chain, including vehicle manufacturing, fleet management, ride-hailing operations, and driver partnerships. The electric vehicles will be supplied from VinFast India’s assembly facility in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu.
The company also plans to establish dedicated EV charging infrastructure and introduce electric two-wheeler taxi services in the future.
