In a major step towards promoting electric mobility and women’s empowerment, the Bihar government has approved the Bihar Electric Vehicle (Amendment) Policy 2026. Under the new policy, women purchasing electric vehicles will receive significant financial assistance from the state government. Online applications for the subsidy will begin on June 1, 2026.

The government has allocated a budget of ₹110 crore for the financial year 2026-27 under the Mukhyamantri Bihar Paryavaran Anukul Parivahan Rozgar Yojana. The initiative aims to encourage the adoption of electric vehicles and help Bihar achieve a 30% EV share in all new vehicle registrations by 2030.

Special Benefits Under Bihar EV Subsidy for Women 2026

The biggest highlight of the policy is the exclusive subsidy for women purchasing electric four-wheelers. Women buyers will receive a subsidy of ₹1 lakh on the purchase of a non-commercial electric car. In addition, they will also get a 50% waiver on motor vehicle tax.

Under the Bihar EV Subsidy for Women 2026, women purchasing electric two-wheelers such as bikes, scooters, or scooties will receive a subsidy of ₹12,000. General category male buyers will receive ₹10,000 on electric two-wheelers. However, men will not receive any subsidy on electric car purchases.

Subsidy for Electric Cargo Three-Wheelers

The policy also provides incentives for electric cargo three-wheelers. General category beneficiaries can receive a subsidy of ₹50,000, while applicants belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) categories can avail up to ₹60,000.

Additionally, all eligible electric vehicles purchased and registered in Bihar will receive a 50% discount on motor vehicle tax.

Important Rules for Applicants

The Bihar EV Subsidy for Women 2026 will operate on a first-come, first-served basis. Subsidy amounts will be transferred directly to beneficiaries through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system. Once the allocated funds are exhausted, applications will no longer be accepted.

The Transport Department has directed officials to process verified applications within 15 working days. Applicants who have already claimed benefits under the 2023 EV policy will not be eligible again.

Vehicles must be purchased and registered in Bihar between May 15, 2026, and March 31, 2027.

Documents Required for Online Application

To apply under the Bihar EV Subsidy for Women 2026, applicants must keep the following documents ready:

  • Bihar Domicile Certificate
  • Vehicle Registration Certificate (RC)
  • Mobile number linked with the RC
  • First page of bank passbook or canceled check
