Relux Electric and TNGECL: Relux Electric and Tamil Nadu Green Energy: Tamil Nadu is taking a major leap toward becoming a leading hub for electric mobility, thanks to a new collaboration between Relux Electric Pvt Ltd and the Tamil Nadu Green Energy Corporation Ltd (TNGECL). The partnership aims to set up around 500 new electric vehicle (EV) charging stations across the state, significantly expanding Tamil Nadu’s EV infrastructure.

Currently, Tamil Nadu hosts approximately 1,300 EV charging stations, and the addition of 500 more is expected to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles, making cleaner and greener transportation more accessible to the public.

Feasibility Study and Strategic Planning

Before the installation begins, Relux Electric and TNGECL will conduct a joint feasibility study to identify suitable government-owned land for the new charging stations. These stations will be strategically located across urban and semi-urban areas, including municipal bodies, bus depots, and other public spaces, ensuring easy accessibility for EV users.

Karthikeyan S, Managing Director of Relux Electric, emphasized the importance of the collaboration, stating, “This partnership between the State and Relux comes at the right time to accelerate EV adoption in Tamil Nadu. It will be a significant step towards transforming the state into an electric mobility hub and strengthening the charging infrastructure at customer-friendly locations.”

Enhancing User Convenience

TNGECL is also developing a digital map that will enable EV drivers to locate both existing and newly installed charging stations with ease. Additionally, plans are underway to create dedicated EV hubs equipped with public-friendly facilities to improve convenience and enhance the overall user experience.

The initiative aims to address “range anxiety”—a common concern among EV owners about the availability of charging points—by ensuring a widespread and accessible network of charging stations throughout Tamil Nadu.

A Step Towards Cleaner Transportation

This partnership aligns with the Tamil Nadu government’s vision to reduce carbon emissions and promote sustainable transport solutions. By expanding the EV infrastructure, the state is not only supporting cleaner mobility but also fostering an ecosystem conducive to the growth of electric vehicles.

TNGECL has been actively involved in expanding EV infrastructure in collaboration with municipal bodies and other stakeholders. The deployment of strategically located charging stations ensures that both private and public EV users can charge their vehicles conveniently, further encouraging the shift from conventional fuel-based vehicles to electric alternatives.

Conclusion

With the installation of 500 new charging stations, Tamil Nadu is set to reinforce its position as a frontrunner in India’s electric mobility journey. The collaboration between Relux Electric and TNGECL promises a robust, sustainable, and customer-friendly EV infrastructure, paving the way for a cleaner and greener future for the state.
