The NCRTC plans smart lockers and EV charging facilities as part of a broader strategy to increase non-fare revenue and transform Namo Bharat stations into modern mobility hubs. The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) is exploring multiple income opportunities beyond ticket sales, including smart passenger services, commercial developments, branding partnerships, and lifestyle amenities.
According to NCRTC Managing Director Shalabh Goel, the organization is focusing on creating passenger-friendly infrastructure while developing sustainable revenue models for the Namo Bharat regional rapid transit system.

Smart Lockers and EV Charging Facilities at Namo Bharat Stations
The NCRTC plans smart lockers and EV charging infrastructure to improve commuter convenience and support green mobility. Smart digital locker facilities are already operational at key stations such as Ghaziabad and Sahibabad, allowing passengers to securely store their luggage for short durations. Users can book lockers for one to six hours through digital platforms, including the Namo Bharat Connect and DMRC applications.
To encourage electric mobility, NCRTC has introduced EV charging facilities at eight important stations, including Sahibabad, Guldhar, Duhai, Muradnagar, Modinagar South, Modinagar North, Meerut South, and Anand Vihar. Through the ElectreeFi app, commuters can reserve charging slots, track charging progress, and make digital payments.
Pod Hotels and Co-Working Spaces to Improve Passenger Experience
NCRTC is also developing additional passenger amenities such as pod hotels and co-working spaces at station premises. Property development opportunities have already been created at Anand Vihar, where floors have been licensed for pod hotel development and other passenger-centric services.
Similar commercial opportunities are being explored at Ghaziabad and Sarai Kale Khan stations to support business travellers, tourists, and daily commuters with convenient accommodation and workspace solutions.
Branding Opportunities Across 21 Namo Bharat Stations
The NCRTC plans smart lockers and EV charging along with several commercial initiatives to create sustainable revenue sources. The corporation has invited bids for semi-naming and co-branding rights across 21 Namo Bharat stations. These branding partnerships will allow companies to associate with the rapid transit network while generating additional income for the system.
NCRTC is also expanding retail food outlets, banking services, Aadhaar centers, and other essential facilities at stations to increase passenger footfall and improve overall station utility.
Building a Sustainable Future for Regional Transport
The NCRTC plans smart lockers and EV charging as part of its long-term vision to reduce dependence on fare collections and build financially sustainable transport infrastructure. By combining green mobility solutions, commercial development, and passenger amenities, NCRTC aims to create integrated transit hubs aligned with Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) principles.
As passenger numbers continue to rise, these non-fare revenue initiatives are expected to play a crucial role in supporting the future growth and sustainability of the Namo Bharat network.
