Shri Devendra Fadnavis, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Maharashtra, formally inaugurated and announced Hyundai Motor India Foundation’s ₹56 crore CSR initiatives in the state, reaffirming Hyundai’s long-standing commitment to sustainable development and community welfare. The occasion was graced by Mr. Unsoo Kim, Managing Director – Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL)
A Strong Commitment to Maharashtra’s Growth
The newly announced programmes focus on environmental sustainability, road safety, healthcare, and community welfare, strengthening Hyundai’s collaboration with the Government of Maharashtra. While launching the initiatives, CM Devendra Fadnavis highlighted the significance of Hyundai’s role beyond automobile manufacturing, praising the company as a responsible corporate citizen committed to social progress.

Flagship Project: IONIQ Forest in Pune
The most ambitious project among the CSR initiatives is the IONIQ Forest, a large-scale afforestation programme at Dange Chowk in Pune. With an investment of ₹32 crore, the project aims to plant 1 million native trees across 90.5 acres using the Miyawaki technique, one of the most effective methods of forest restoration. Once completed, this will become one of Maharashtra’s largest afforestation zones, significantly contributing to the state’s green cover and ecological balance.
Road Safety Through Easy Roads Initiative
Road safety has also been prioritized under Hyundai’s Easy Roads Initiative, with an investment of ₹4 crore. The initiative includes setting up Traffic Engineering and Organizational Development Centers in Nagpur and Pune, designed to strengthen traffic management and promote safe driving practices. This project will also support the Nagpur Traffic Police’s campaign, ‘My Road, My Friend’, aimed at building awareness and responsibility among road users.
Empowering Communities with Adhikaar Connect
To address gaps in welfare access, Hyundai has launched the Adhikaar Connect Programme in Nashik and Talegaon. This initiative will help rural communities with documentation and application processes for public welfare schemes while promoting digital and financial literacy. The programme ensures that underprivileged groups are not left behind in accessing government benefits.
Expanding Ongoing Nationwide Programmes in Maharashtra
Alongside these new projects, Hyundai will deepen the impact of its ongoing pan-India CSR initiatives in Maharashtra. These include:
- Sparsh Sanjeevani Telemedicine Clinics & Mobile Medical Units to enhance rural healthcare access.
- Hope for Cancer programme provides awareness, diagnosis, and treatment support.

- Art for Hope, offering financial grants to promote Indian art and culture.
- Drive4Progress provides driver training and automotive skill development.
