India’s electric mobility journey received a major boost at India Energy Week 2026 as BPCL & Tata Motors Partner to jointly develop the country’s biggest Mega EV Charging and Engagement Hubs. This strategic collaboration between Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) and Tata Motors aims to accelerate EV adoption by strengthening charging infrastructure and enhancing the overall customer experience.

A Strategic MoU for Future-Ready Mobility

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by Shri Gorav, Chief General Manager (Marketing), Retail HQ, BPCL, and Shri Vivek Srivatsa, Vice President & Chief Commercial Officer, Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Limited (TPEML), in the presence of Shri Pardeep Goyal, Business Head (Retail), BPCL. The agreement reflects a shared vision to support India’s clean mobility transition through scalable and consumer-focused solutions.

Mega EV Charging & Engagement Hubs Explained

Under this partnership, BPCL & Tata Motors Partner to establish large, high-capacity EV charging hubs at select BPCL retail outlets across India. These hubs will be equipped with fast-charging infrastructure to significantly reduce charging time. Beyond charging, they will include dedicated customer engagement zones offering amenities such as cafés, restrooms, and Wi-Fi, making EV charging more convenient and comfortable.

Data-Driven Expansion Strategy

Tata Motors will leverage real-world usage data from over 1.15 lakh electric vehicles already on Indian roads to identify high-demand and frequently visited locations for charger deployment. This data-led approach ensures optimal placement of infrastructure, maximizing utilization and customer benefit as BPCL & Tata Motors Partner to scale EV charging nationwide.

Building on Strong Existing Infrastructure

BPCL has already developed more than 90 fast-charging corridors spanning nearly 30,000 km, with charging stations positioned approximately every 100 km along major highways. This initiative also builds on a previous commitment to install 7,000 chargers at BPCL Energy Stations, strengthening the foundation for the new mega hubs.

MegaCharger Network and Smart Payments

Tata Motors’ Mega Charger initiative plans to roll out 500 superfast charging hubs in its first phase, each featuring multiple charging bays. Additionally, both companies are exploring co-branded RFID cards to enable seamless and unified payments for Tata EV owners, further simplifying the charging experience.
