Bentley has unveiled the Torcal as the British luxury marque enters the fully electric era. Revealed in London, the SUV becomes Bentley’s fourth model line alongside the Continental, Flying Spur, and Bentayga. The Bentley First EV Torcal Debut combines recognizable Bentley design with advanced electric performance, handcrafted materials, and rapid charging. Starting at £173,000 ($230,000) in the UK, the Torcal is positioned as Bentley’s most accessible model. It targets younger and first-time buyers.
What Is Bentley’s First EV?
The Torcal is Bentley’s first EV, with an 800V, 113 kWh battery, 600km WLTP range and 400 kW charging.
Bentley Torcal: Familiar Design, Electric Heart
CEO Frank-Steffen Walliser says Bentley deliberately avoided making the Torcal look like a conventional futuristic EV.
It shares its underlying platform with the Porsche Cayenne Electric and uses Volkswagen Group engineering.
Performance and Range
The standard Torcal produces 821 PS and 1,194 Nm, reaches 60 mph in 3.3 seconds and tops out at 155 mph. The sportier Torcal S boosts output to 888 PS and 1,350 Nm, hitting 60 mph in 2.8 seconds and topping out at 162 mph.
Bentley says the powertrain is tuned for controlled performance.

Luxury With Wool, Walnut, and a New Sound
The Bentley First EV Torcal Debut also introduces unusual luxury details. Buyers can choose 100% Merino wool seats, developed with Somerset weaver Fox Brothers, with 15 leather shades.
The cabin offers Ombré Walnut, made from 1,000 layers of walnut offcuts and recycled paper.
Instead of simply imitating a petrol V8 electronically, Bentley developed a soundtrack using live orchestral timpani and smaller drums. The rhythm becomes faster as the SUV accelerates.
India Launch and Expected Price
Bentley plans to launch the Torcal in India in the second half of 2027. While its UK starting price is £173,000 ($230,000), the expected Indian price is around ₹4.5 crore ex-showroom. This reflects the lack of customs-duty relief for EVs under the current UK-India free-trade agreement.
Production and Luxury-EV Competition
The Bentley First EV Torcal Debut comes as luxury automakers face uncertain demand for electric vehicles. Ferrari’s Luce has drawn design criticism, while Lamborghini has delayed its first EV, and McLaren says it has no plans for one.
Bentley is manufacturing the Torcal at its Crewe factory after a £350 million investment, supporting 4,000 local jobs. It tests whether affluent customers will embrace high-performance electric luxury without losing Bentley’s traditional luxury character and identity.
