The Tata Avinya EV Spied Testing in India has become one of the biggest developments in the country’s premium electric vehicle segment. The first spy shots of the upcoming Tata Avinya X flagship electric SUV have surfaced during public road testing, confirming that the project has entered a crucial real-world validation phase.

Although the heavily camouflaged test vehicle was initially mistaken by several media reports as an imported Chinese SUV, industry sources have clarified that Tata Motors is using a Chery Exeed Sterra ET as a mechanical test mule. The reason is simple—the SUV shares the same global EV architecture that will underpin the future Tata Avinya lineup, allowing engineers to test the platform efficiently before the production model arrives.

Premium Design Elements Revealed

Despite the camouflage, the prototype reveals several premium styling cues expected on the production version. It features a long-wheelbase crossover profile with an elegant coupe-style roofline and short overhangs for a modern stance. Other visible highlights include connected LED daytime running lights, wrapped dual-layer LED tail lamps, flush pop-out door handles, frameless windows, and large aero-optimized dual-tone alloy wheels that enhance both efficiency and appearance.

Advanced EV Platform and Performance

The Tata Avinya EV prototype Spied Testing in India is expected to be based on the modular Freelander platform developed through the Chery-JLR joint venture. It is likely to feature an advanced 800V electrical architecture supporting both single-motor rear-wheel-drive and dual-motor all-wheel-drive configurations.

Battery options are expected to range from 65 kWh to 80 kWh, delivering an estimated driving range of 500–600+ km on a full charge. The platform is also expected to support 350 kW DC fast charging, enabling a 10% to 80% recharge in under 20 minutes under ideal conditions.

Expected Launch and Pricing

Following the Tata Avinya EV’s spied testing in India, the premium Avinya X SUV is expected to debut in early 2027 with an estimated ex-showroom price of ₹40 lakh to ₹50 lakh. Production is planned at Tata’s new TMPV-JLR manufacturing facility in Panapakkam, Tamil Nadu. As development progresses, the Tata Avinya EV Spied Testing in India signals Tata Motors’ ambition to compete in the premium global EV market with cutting-edge technology and luxury-focused design.
