The buzz in the Indian EV market just got louder as VinFast VF6 and VF7 Launch Confirmed For September 6 has been officially announced. Vietnamese electric vehicle giant VinFast is all set to take a bold step into India with the debut of its much-anticipated VF6 and VF7 electric SUVs. With their futuristic design, advanced features, and competitive positioning, these EVs are expected to shake up the segment and challenge existing players. But what makes this launch so special, and why is the industry watching closely? Let’s dive deeper into everything you need to know about this grand arrival.

Local Assembly in Tamil Nadu

This launch coincides with the inauguration of VinFast’s first overseas manufacturing facility in Thoothukudi (Tuticorin), Tamil Nadu. Spread across 400 acres in the SIPCOT industrial estate, the plant marks VinFast’s third global and first international production site.

Starting with local CKD (completely knocked down) assembly, it has an initial annual capacity of 50,000 units, scalable up to 150,000, and potentially 1 million by 2030. The plant is also poised to become an export hub servicing neighboring countries, the Middle East, and Africa.

VinFast chose Tuticorin for its strategic advantages—proximity to a seaport and airport, strong local talent, and government support—to eventually localize component supply.

Bookings Underway: Rs 21,000 Token

Bookings for both the VF6 and VF7 opened on July 15, 2025, with a fully refundable token of ₹21,000 payable via showrooms or VinFast’s official booking channels. A network of 35 dealerships is being rolled out across India to support sales, service, and deliveries.

VinFast’s aggressive entry—backed by a projected ₹4,000 crore initial investment (potentially rising to over ₹16,000 crore by 2030)—and localized manufacturing underscores its strategic commitment to the Indian EV ecosystem. The Tamil Nadu facility will also serve export markets, while the company is exploring expansion into other states such as Andhra Pradesh. Alongside vehicles, VinFast plans to work with banks and partners to strengthen financing and charging infrastructure for Indian EV buyers.
