Toyota is steadily building anticipation for its first electric SUV in India, the Urban Cruiser EV. Over the past few days, the Japanese automaker has been releasing short preview clips, with the latest Toyota Urban Cruiser EV Teaser offering fresh insights into the SUV’s design and features. The official launch is confirmed for January 20, and the model is based on the Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara, which has already been revealed globally.
What Does the Latest Teaser Shows?
The most recent Toyota Urban Cruiser EV Teaser, shared on Toyota India’s official Instagram handle, highlights some key exterior elements. The clip showcases a futuristic, aero-efficient diamond-cut alloy wheel design that underlines the SUV’s EV-focused styling. It also gives a clear look at the right-side LED headlamp, featuring a single-strip LED DRL paired with an LED projector setup. Additionally, the teaser briefly reveals the drive mode selector, hinting at multiple driving modes for varied conditions.

Earlier Teasers and Exterior Highlights
Before this, another Toyota Urban Cruiser EV Teaser revealed the inverted L-shaped LED taillights and the electric charging port. A “BEV” badge is positioned on the front left fender, marking its fully electric identity. Design-wise, the Urban Cruiser EV adopts Toyota’s latest “hammerhead” styling, with a blacked-out closed grille, matte black lower cladding, and four parking sensors at both the front and rear.
Platform, Dimensions, and Design
The SUV is underpinned by the HEARTECT-e born-electric platform, shared with the e Vitara. Dimensionally, it measures 4,285 mm in length, 1,800 mm in width, and 1,640 mm in height, with a generous 2,700 mm wheelbase. The side profile features chunky cladding and 18-inch aero blade-style alloy wheels, while the rear gets clear LED taillights, an integrated roof spoiler, a shark fin antenna, and a robust bumper.
Interior and Features
Inside, the Urban Cruiser EV closely mirrors the e-Vitara’s dashboard layout, finished in a black, brown, and grey theme. Key features include a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 12-color ambient lighting, a 360-degree camera, a flat-top-and-bottom steering wheel, and a large single-pane electric sunroof.
Battery, Powertrain, and Range
Mechanically, Toyota will offer two battery options: a 49 kWh and a 61 kWh pack. The smaller battery produces 144 bhp and 189 Nm, while a higher-output version delivers 174 bhp with the same torque. A dual-motor AWD variant will top the lineup with 184 bhp and 300 Nm, offering an expected range of around 500 km. With every Toyota Urban Cruiser EV Teaser, expectations continue to rise ahead of its much-awaited debut.
