This strategic move reflects the company’s ambition to strengthen its presence in India’s rapidly growing electric vehicle (EV) sector and underscores its commitment to delivering comprehensive solutions for EV powertrains and power electronics.
A Strategic Evolution
Formerly known as Sterling Gtake E-Mobility, the subsidiary now operates under the new identity of Sterling E-Mobility Solutions. As a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sterling Tools Ltd. (STL), a pioneer in high-tensile automotive fasteners since 1979, the rebranding aligns with STL’s vision to diversify its business. The company aims to generate 50% of its revenue from new verticals, primarily within the EV ecosystem, by 2030.
Global Partnerships, Local Impact
To accelerate its EV ambitions, Sterling E-Mobility has forged strategic global collaborations that combine cutting-edge technology with local manufacturing:
- Advanced Electric Machines (UK): Sterling signed a licensing agreement in May 2025 to manufacture magnet-free motors in India. This innovative motor technology promises higher efficiency and increased torque without relying on rare-earth magnets.
- Landworld Technology Co. (China): A partnership established in September 2025 enables local production of on-board chargers and DC/DC converters, supporting the government’s Make in India initiative.
- Jiangsu Gtake Electric Co. (China): Continuing its exclusive partnership, Sterling manufactures Motor Control Units (MCUs) for a range of vehicles, from two-wheelers to heavy commercial vehicles.
- GLVAC Yuantong (China): Through its subsidiary Sterling Tech-Mobility, the company produces high-voltage DC contactors and relays in India.
These collaborations are central to Sterling’s goal of offering high-performance, locally tailored solutions for India’s diverse EV market, with projected revenues of ₹450 crore by FY2030.
