Maruti Suzuki to Automate 21 Driving Test Centres in Rajasthan: On August 31, 2025, Maruti Suzuki India signed a significant Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the Transport Department of Rajasthan. This partnership, formalized in the presence of Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Prem Chand Bairwa, marks a major leap toward digitizing and streamlining the driving license issuance process in the state.

A Technological Leap for Road Safety

Under its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative, Maruti Suzuki will establish 21 automated driving test tracks across 20 Rajasthan cities. The network includes metropolitan hubs like Jaipur, Jodhpur, Udaipur, Kota, Bikaner, and Alwar, as well as other important regional centers.

These Automated Driving License Test Tracks (ADTTs) will integrate cutting-edge technology—high-definition cameras, RFID sensors, real-time analytics, and IT-integrated testing systems—to conduct computerized, rule-based assessments. The automation ensures strict compliance with the Central Motor Vehicle Rules (CMVR), minimizing human bias and error, and enhancing transparency in the testing process.

Deputy CM Dr. Prem Chand Bairwa highlighted the initiative’s alignment with Rajasthan’s 10-year Road Safety Action Plan, emphasizing how it makes the license testing process “comprehensive and transparent.” Meanwhile, Maruti Suzuki’s Rahul Bharti, Senior Executive Officer of Corporate Affairs, underlined that “driver skill is a critical factor in road safety,” and insisted that automation ensures only competent candidates earn licenses.

Scaling Up a Nationwide Road Safety Vision

This Rajasthan project is the latest chapter in Maruti Suzuki’s nationwide quest to elevate road safety through technology. Before this, the automaker had already deployed 45 automated tracks across India—with 17 in Uttar Pradesh, 14 in Delhi, seven in Bihar, and additional facilities in Uttarakhand, Haryana, and Jammu. The new Rajasthan tracks will raise the national total to 66 ADTTs.

Beyond track automation, Maruti Suzuki’s broader road safety framework is built on five pillars: Education, Evaluation, Engineering, Enforcement, and Emergency Care. The company has also partnered with state governments to establish Institutes of Driving and Traffic Research (IDTRs) and Road Safety Knowledge Centres (RSKCs). These centers support traffic monitoring systems and regularly conduct first-responder training for commercial drivers, further strengthening road safety infrastructure.
