Kia India has strengthened its electric vehicle ownership proposition by introducing a 15-year, unlimited-kilometer high-voltage battery warranty for the Carens Clavis EV. Applicable to qualifying new private vehicles retailed from August 1, 2026, the programme targets one of buyers’ biggest concerns: long-term battery replacement costs. The Kia Carens Clavis EV Battery Warranty also gives eligible existing owners an opportunity to upgrade from their original coverage.
Combined with Battery as a Service, expanding public charging access and a nationwide EV-ready service network, the policy positions the electric MPV as a reassuring option for families considering a long-term transition to cleaner mobility.
The Kia Carens Clavis EV Battery Warranty provides 15 years of high-voltage battery coverage with unlimited kilometers to the first private owner of an eligible vehicle retailed on or after August 1, 2026. What Does the New Lifetime Battery Warranty Cover?
Kia is describing the new programme as a “Lifetime” battery warranty. In practical terms, it provides high-voltage battery coverage for 15 years without imposing a kilometre limit.
The policy is designed to reduce concerns about long-term battery degradation and potentially expensive battery repairs or replacements. However, buyers should note that the warranty is subject to specific eligibility requirements rather than being an unconditional lifetime guarantee.

Kia Carens Clavis EV Battery Warranty: Important Conditions
The extended protection is restricted to the first private owner. If the vehicle is sold, the new owner will not retain the 15-year, unlimited-kilometer benefit. Instead, battery coverage will revert to the standard warranty of eight years or 160,000 km, whichever comes first.
Fleet vehicles, taxis, and other commercially registered Carens Clavis EVs are also excluded from the programme. These vehicles will continue to receive the standard battery warranty.
Another important condition concerns battery degradation. The warranty is expected to cover the battery when its usable capacity falls below 70% of the original capacity, subject to inspection, warranty terms, and Kia’s prescribed maintenance requirements.

Existing Owners Can Upgrade Their Battery Coverage
Customers who bought a Carens Clavis EV before August 1, 2026, have not been completely excluded. Eligible private owners can apply to extend their original eight-year or 160,000 km battery warranty to the new 15-year, unlimited-kilometer plan.
The upgrade reportedly requires a one-time administrative payment of ₹3,400. Approval remains subject to Kia’s eligibility requirements and an evaluation by an authorized dealership.

Standard Vehicle Warranty Remains Unchanged
The extended policy applies exclusively to the high-voltage traction battery. It does not increase the warranty period for the entire vehicle.
The standard vehicle warranty remains three years with unlimited kilometers. Components such as the infotainment system, suspension, air-conditioning equipment, and other electrical or mechanical parts will remain governed by their respective warranty conditions.
Kia Offers Battery as a Service for Greater Flexibility
Alongside the extended warranty, Kia is offering a Battery as a Service model for the Carens Clavis EV. Under BaaS, customers can rent the high-voltage battery instead of paying its complete cost as part of the vehicle’s upfront price.
This arrangement can lower the initial acquisition cost and make the electric MPV more accessible. Buyers will, however, need to account for the recurring battery-rental charges when calculating the vehicle’s total long-term ownership cost.

K-Charge Provides Access to Over 20,300 Charging Points
Kia is also expanding its charging ecosystem to make EV ownership more convenient. Its K-Charge platform provides access to more than 20,300 charging points operated by 23 charging providers.
Available through the MyKia mobile application and Kia India’s online platform, the service allows users to:
- Locate compatible public charging stations
- Check directions to charging locations
- Access chargers operated by multiple providers
- Make charging payments through one platform
- Plan journeys with better charging visibility
