In a bold strategic shift to capture China’s booming smart electric vehicle sector, Seres-backed Saidou launches an AI-driven automotive brand, AIVA (Artificial Intelligence Voyage Ahead). The high-tech rollout marks a determined effort by automaker Seres Group—widely recognized for its luxury, Huawei-backed Aito line—to expand its footprint into the mass market through its subsidiary, Saidou Technology (formerly known as Landian).

Transforming Cars into “Physical AI”

The newly unveiled AIVA brand is positioning its vehicles not simply as traditional electric cars with software plug-ins but as an entirely new species of “physical AI.”

To deliver this next-generation connected experience, Seres-backed Saidou launches AI-driven smart capabilities by forming a core technological alliance with ByteDance, the parent company of TikTok. Rather than stepping into car manufacturing directly, ByteDance is supplying its specialized AI infrastructure and cloud unit, Volcano Engine. This partnership integrates the widely popular Doubao large AI model deep into the vehicle’s smart cockpit, enabling emotional perception, highly personalized environments, and multi-modal voice interactions.

Key Tech Architecture & Suppliers

Beyond the intelligent digital cockpit, AIVA has secured a robust supply chain from top-tier industry players:

  • Autonomous Driving: Shifting away from Huawei’s Qiankun ADS ecosystem, AIVA has partnered with DeepRoute.ai to run its intelligent driving and advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS).
  • Battery Power: Backed by an infrastructure injection that includes battery giant CATL, vehicles will be offered in both Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) and Range-Extended Electric Vehicle (EREV) configurations.

The Upcoming ME7 and Market Controversy

The brand’s mass-production debut will feature the AIVA ME7, a sleek crossover SUV tailored for a younger, tech-focused demographic. While its predecessor brand, Landian, occupied the ultra-budget space, the new AIVA lineup targets the mainstream market priced above 200,000 yuan (~$27,600 USD). Production is already spinning up at Seres’ specialized Phoenix plant, preparing for an official commercial release later this year.

However, the launch has not arrived without friction. The announcement triggered immediate, public blowback from Avatr—a rival premium EV brand backed by Changan, Huawei, and CATL. Taking to Weibo, Avatr accused the new brand of blatant visual and semantic imitation, posting a warning that “Chinese cars cannot take the ‘Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V’ road.”

As Seres-backed Saidou launches AI-driven vehicle ecosystems, this high-profile rivalry underscores the cutthroat nature of the domestic market. By diversifying its technology reliance beyond Huawei, the milestone of Seres-backed Saidou launching AI-driven solutions signals a vital era of supply chain diversification and software-centric automotive engineering.
