In a major boost to Europe’s electric mobility ambitions, ElectroMobility Poland (EMP) officially partnered with Foxconn and its subsidiary Foxtron Vehicle Technologies in May 2026. The collaboration marks a strategic shift for Poland as it replaces earlier talks with China’s Geely, choosing a partner known for both industrial scale and advanced digital capabilities.
Strategic Vision Behind the Partnership
The initiative, widely highlighted as Foxconn Joins EMP, is designed to position Poland as a key electric vehicle manufacturing and innovation hub in Europe. EMP CEO Cyprian Gronkiewicz emphasized that the partnership prioritizes technology transfer, development of local vehicle design expertise, and integration of Polish suppliers into the global EV value chain.

At the same time, Poland’s Minister of State Assets Wojciech Balczun stated that the country aims to become not just a production base, but also a central distribution hub for EVs across Europe.
Manufacturing Hub in Jaworzno
A key highlight of the Foxconn Joins EMP collaboration is the construction of a large-scale EV factory in Jaworzno. The facility will include body and paint shops, battery and electric drive assembly units, and final vehicle production lines.
The plant is expected to begin operations by 2029, with an initial annual production capacity of 100,000 vehicles. Over time, this could expand to as many as 400,000 units, depending on market demand and further investments.
New Polish EV Brand and Product Line
Under the Foxconn Joins EMP initiative, the partners plan to develop a domestic EV brand—previously known as Izera—targeting the broader European market. The initial lineup will include three mid-size models, designed to meet growing demand for affordable and technologically advanced electric vehicles.
Focus on R&D and Digital Innovation
Beyond manufacturing, the project includes a dedicated research and development center. This facility will focus on software development, data analytics, and digital mobility solutions, ensuring that Poland becomes a technology-driven EV hub rather than just a production base.
The initiative also aims to strengthen the broader EV ecosystem, including investments in battery technologies and supply chain development.
Funding and Future Outlook
The Foxconn Joins EMP project is backed by Poland’s National Recovery Plan and the Reprivatization Fund, which recapitalized EMP in December 2025. Binding agreements for a joint venture are expected in the second half of 2026.
With electric vehicle demand rising across the European Union—supported by increasing fuel prices and policy incentives—this partnership could play a pivotal role in reshaping Europe’s EV landscape while placing Poland firmly on the map as a next-generation automotive powerhouse.
