The automotive landscape in India is rapidly evolving, with the shift to electric vehicles (EVs) no longer just a novelty but a key strategic focus for major manufacturers. Among them, Mahindra has positioned itself strongly in the EV SUV space, building momentum with its “Born Electric” and XUV.e range of electric SUVs, all underpinned by the new modular INGLO platform. In this blog, we take a detailed look at Mahindra’s current electric SUV lineup, where it stands today, and what’s ahead for the brand.

Mahindra’s current electric SUV line-up includes:

And there are several other electric SUVs in the pipeline: the XEV 9S (7-seater), BE.05, BE.07, and BE.09.

This combination of current models and future launches demonstrates Mahindra’s ambition to cover a wide range of segments in the electric SUV space.

  • Mahindra BE.07: Expected by October 2026. Larger, more family-oriented SUV than BE.05, with either 60 kWh or 80 kWh battery.
  • Mahindra BE.09: Estimated launch in 2027. The largest and most premium model in Mahindra’s “Born Electric” range, futuristic coupe-SUV design, single or dual-motor setup, battery ~60–80 kWh.

Which Model for Which Buyer?

Here’s a simple breakdown to help potential buyers decide:

  • If you are city-based, mostly doing urban commuting and occasional weekend drives, budget is a constraint, and you want to try an EV without stretching too much, the XUV400 EV is the most logical entry.
  • If you want longer range, better performance, more tech (dual screens, better charging), and you have a slightly bigger budget, the BE 6 offers compelling value.
  • If you are looking for an aspirational EV SUV, strong design, high tech, premium features, and you want something that competes with high-end ICE SUVs but in EV form, the XEV 9e fits that bill.
  • If you have family-size requirements (7-seater) or you’re willing to wait for upcoming models, then keep an eye on XEV 9S and next-gen BE-series models.

Conclusion

Mahindra’s electric SUV strategy is shaping up well. With the XUV400 EV covering the entry segment, the BE 6 catering to mid-premium, and the XEV 9e positioned at the top end of the market, the company is offering a full spectrum of electric SUVs. The upcoming models further extend that reach into 7-seaters and more family-oriented segments.
