New TVS Orbiter Electric Scooter Launch on 28th August: TVS Motor Company is all set to expand its electric vehicle portfolio with the launch of a brand-new entry-level electric scooter on 28 August 2025. The company has shared a teaser that hints strongly at the name Orbiter, although other trademarks such as EV-one and O have also been filed. All indications suggest that this upcoming model will be called the TVS Orbiter.

Positioning the Orbiter: The Affordable EV Option

The new scooter will sit below the popular iQube in TVS’s electric line-up, targeting buyers who want an affordable and practical EV for daily commuting. With government subsidies reducing and inflation driving up vehicle costs, TVS aims to offer a scooter priced around ₹95,000 to ₹1,00,000 (ex-showroom), making it the most affordable EV from the brand. This will allow TVS to capture a larger share of the fast-growing entry-level electric scooter market, especially in Tier II and Tier III cities.

Design & Mechanical Specs: Simplified Yet Functional

Although official specifications will only be revealed at the launch, reports suggest that the Orbiter will adopt a hub-mounted or swingarm-mounted motor, paired with a smaller battery pack compared to the iQube. This will help keep costs low while still providing sufficient range for everyday city use.

Design sketches point towards a stylish yet simple scooter with modern touches such as split front lights, a compact windscreen, slim body panels with a floorboard-integrated battery, LED tail lamps, and twin rear shocks. The Orbiter is also likely to feature 14-inch front and 12-inch rear wheels, giving it a stable and urban-friendly design.

  • Smart connectivity features such as navigation, ride analytics, and smartphone integration.
  • Keyless ignition and app-based controls.
  • Multiple riding modes for efficiency and performance.
  • Large storage space suitable for city riders.

Why the Orbiter Matters for TVS and Indian Buyers

Currently, the TVS iQube is offered in multiple battery pack options ranging from 2.2kWh to 5.3kWh, delivering ranges between 94 km and 212 km per charge. However, the iQube starts at over ₹1.1 lakh, which may be out of reach for budget-conscious buyers. The Orbiter will bridge this gap by offering a basic, no-frills EV scooter with essential features such as an LCD console, basic connectivity, and standard lighting.

To further improve affordability, TVS is also expected to offer Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS), allowing customers to rent batteries instead of purchasing them outright. This could bring down the upfront cost significantly, making EV ownership more accessible.

Competitive Landscape: Catching Rivals on Affordability

The TVS Orbiter will compete directly with other entry-level electric scooters like the Hero Vida VX2, along with the more affordable variants of the Ola S1X and Bajaj Chetak. If TVS manages to keep the pricing aggressive, the Orbiter could attract a large section of buyers who are currently using petrol-powered scooters but are looking to switch to EVs.

Final Word

The TVS Orbiter, set to debut on 28 August 2025, could become a game-changer in India’s EV scooter market. Positioned as the most affordable electric two-wheeler from TVS, it is expected to come with a simplified design, a smaller battery, and essential features while keeping the price under ₹1 lakh. By focusing on practicality and affordability, TVS aims to make electric mobility accessible to the masses. The Orbiter could very well be the EV that brings a new wave of commuters into the electric revolution.
