Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer Li Auto is preparing to reveal fresh developments in its battery, powertrain, and semiconductor technologies at a major event on October 20, 2026. Scheduled for 7:30 PM Beijing time, the presentation comes as competition intensifies around faster charging, smarter driving systems and greater control over critical EV components. Li Auto Power Day 2026 will also set the stage for the updated Li i6 electric SUV, arriving just eight days later.
While the company has confirmed the event, it has not announced its full technology agenda or performance figures, making tomorrow’s presentation particularly important for industry watchers.

What Is Li Auto’s Power Day Event?
Li Auto Power Day 2026 takes place on October 20 at 7:30 PM Beijing time to discuss EV technology advances. Its confirmed wider strategy includes proprietary 5C batteries and Mach driving chips; specific announcements remain undisclosed.
Why Its In-House 5C Battery Matters
Li Auto began developing battery technology internally in 2020. Its 5C fast-charging programme covers cells, battery packs and battery management systems, with a goal of improving charging convenience, safety and vehicle integration.
The company says internally developed batteries are already used in the Li L8, L6 and i8. Production involves a 50:50 joint venture established with Sunwoda in 2025.
CEO Li Xiang stresses that internal development does not mean abandoning suppliers. CATL remains a partner, while Li Auto integrates thermal management, electric drives, and vehicle controls. Its Lianshan monitoring system supports battery traceability and early quality checks.
Mach Chips Gain Fresh Investment
Li Auto Power Day 2026 could also spotlight its Mach-assisted-driving chips and domain controllers. On October 16, subsidiary Shanghai Mahe Xin Technology signed conditional agreements for RMB 1.625 billion in equity investment.
Li Auto will contribute RMB 1 billion, while external investors will provide RMB 625 million. The funds are intended to accelerate chip research and commercialization, including opportunities outside automotive applications.
Solid-State Batteries: Promise, Not Production
Solid-state battery research is another potential discussion topic, but no presentation has been confirmed. Reports indicate Li Auto has tested prototypes in wearable devices and could pursue limited vehicle applications in 2027 or 2028. Large-scale automotive production remains more distant because durability, charging, and cost challenges persist.
Updated: Li i6 Arrives October 28
The five-seat 2026 Li i6 will launch on October 28, with Chinese deliveries scheduled for early November. Its updated hardware includes Li Auto’s proprietary 5C battery and Mach driving chip. The vehicle has also been presented in Europe under the Li 6 name, supporting overseas expansion ambitions.
Sales Pressure Raises the Stakes
Li Auto delivered 31,817 vehicles in September, down 6.29% year on year. January–September deliveries reached 293,436, a 1.25% decline.
Against these pressures, the company is exploring technology sales, including silicon-carbide modules and range-extender systems, as possible additional revenue streams.
Li Auto Power Day 2026 therefore matters beyond one launch: it will offer a clearer picture of how proprietary EV technology might strengthen the manufacturer’s competitiveness, supplier relationships and long-term profitability amid growing EV competition.
