BYD’s third-generation Tang EV is nearing its China launch, with a redesigned digital cockpit, upgraded battery technology, and improved comfort and intelligent driving. Scheduled to arrive in Q4 2026, the five-seat electric SUV introduces BYD’s cabin interface, larger displays, faster charging, and an extended range. At the center of the update, BYD unveils modular widescreen UI technology designed to make navigation, entertainment, vehicle information, and AI functions easier to access.
The new Tang also gains more rear-seat space, air suspension, LiDAR, and up to 850 km of claimed CLTC range before its planned debut in the Chinese market.

What is new in the third-generation BYD Tang EV?
The new Tang EV gets a modular “Giant Screen UI,” dual widescreen displays, a 300 kW rear motor, a second-generation Blade Battery, Flash Charging, DiSus-A air suspension, roof-mounted LiDAR, and up to 850 km of CLTC range.
Giant Screen UI Transforms the Cockpit
BYD unveils modular widescreen UI as one of the biggest technology upgrades in the new Tang EV. The system allows users to combine, resize, and tile multiple windows for navigation, media, and vehicle controls.
Key cockpit highlights include:
• 35.4-inch remote cowl display beneath the windshield
• 30-inch panoramic touchscreen across the center and passenger side
• Fixed horizontal layout instead of BYD’s older rotating screen
• Animated AI assistant called Xiao Mianbao, or “Little Bread”
• Voice and visual sensing with expressive on-screen reactions
The upper screen displays driving data, navigation, and vehicle status, replacing the conventional instrument cluster and head-up display.
Bigger Cabin, More Rear-Seat Comfort
The third-generation Tang measures 5,045 mm long, 1,980 mm wide, and 1,760 mm high, with a 2,950 mm wheelbase. It is 145 mm longer than its predecessor, while the wheelbase has grown by 130 mm.
Rear passengers get more than 1,000 mm of legroom, while the seatbacks can recline by up to 130 degrees. Buyers will also be offered Dune Beige and Amber Brown interior themes.
Battery, Performance, and Charging
BYD unveils modular widescreen UI alongside hardware upgrades. MIIT filings list a rear permanent-magnet synchronous motor producing 300 kW, or about 402 hp, with a 250 km/h top speed.
Battery options include:
• 88.682 kWh LFP pack
• 105.792 kWh LFP pack
• 730 km, 830 km, or 850 km CLTC range depending on version
BYD says Flash Charging can take the battery from 10% to 70% in around five minutes and to 97% in nine minutes at normal temperatures. In extreme cold, charging may take about three minutes longer. These claims have not yet been independently verified.
Air Suspension and Advanced Driver Assistance
The Tang EV also features DiSus-A suspension with dual-chamber air springs and road-surface preview. A roof-mounted LiDAR supports God’s Eye B driver assistance, including SAE Level 2 highway and urban navigation functions.
With its redesigned cabin, long range, and rapid charging, BYD unveils a modular widescreen UI as the headline feature of a broader technology push. Pre-sale dates and pricing have not yet been announced.
